Q: Any suggestions for getting a haircut?
I currently have really long hair and want to get it cut before the winter sets in here. Back I usually ask for a "general mens cut" which is longer on top and shorter on the sides and layered. In other words so I can use some sort of gel to slick it back but not have the sides of my hair as short as I see Chinese guys have it. Any suggestions on what to say really?
Find a picture and take it in and show them the length you want it cut. If they make a mistake, it'll grow back.

Don't do it man. Long hair is cool. Dump the gel. Girls don't dig that anymore!

I am still debating it but where I am it gets cold and having long hair can be a hassle sometimes in the cold but yeah idk yet... back home I only trust certain ppl to cut my hair so if I were to here it would be a great leap in trust lol
Worst hair style seen on guys here, is the one with lots of gel/spray or whatever it is making the hair stand up to attention. NOOOO! it does not look good!!! Some hairdressers here keep wanting to put some sort of s*** in my hair - it is quite long - i keep refusing as i prefer a clean hair feel. on a guy - this is not a good look 
In terms of cut: a good look on a guy IMO is a 2-4 cm length.

I was looking for 4-5cm actually but as of yet I may just keep my long hair .... I have had it for two years already so why not .... i feel when I go back to the US i can at least donate a lot of hair
Yeh, if you go in the shop and notice there aren't any scissors, it's a brothel. I spent about three hours and 500 yuan trying to find a barbers my first month here. Marvelous time.
