Q: anybody been to Bama, Guanxi ?

I am thinking about a weekend jaunt to Bama...........see if I can uncover the secret to longevity.......... anybody been there and have any good things to say about the visit? ..........  maybe I'll move there and drink their water and live longer, or does being a couch potato sort of ruin the balance?

No but it is on the list, so when you get back, please share your experience.

Note. As far as I know Bama's claim to fame is that they have many people who lives to be more than 100, but that does not necessarily mean that the average life expectancy is high.

I am planning to go there as soon as school ends with my GF and her daughter.  We plan to rent a house and stay about one month, exploring Bama and other attractions near by.  Going price for a one month rental is from 600 to 1000 yuan per month on short rentals, depending who does the negotiation and if season or not.  There are supposed to be very famous caves nearby, and mostly it is a lay back town or village.  For further information, please see

A:Chinese are generally pretty tolerant friendly and accepting whatever foreigners do.  I spent 15 years in China but I wouldn't say there are that many don'ts....Don't assume that many people speak English though and learn some Chinese. Don't speak much about politics unless you want to praise Chinese system.  -- Natalie363
