Q: Anybody ever set up a holding company in Hong Kong?
Nothing fancy, just need to set up a legal entity as a holding vehicle for an investment I am making.
I see there are place online that offer kinda "full service" solutions, and maybe I'll have to go that route, but my hunch is that any place that advertises online will be a bit of a rip off.
For example I don't need to pay somebody to handle the accounting, I am more than capable of doing that myself for an entity like this.
If i gotta do it, then I gotta suck it up and pay, but anybody have any experience with this kinda thing?

Yes, not my company but i have been involved with the process.
Generally these companies offering these services are legit. They will have an office in Central or something that you can visit. Pay the fee and they will set you up with a registered HK company. Taxes, accounting, banking set ups. They will do it all. Prices are decent for the services and im sure you can pick and choose which services you want. So doing your own accounting shouldnt be an issue.
They are also good at keeping contact with you and hounding you about things that are coming up. Very professional from my experience. And yes, very legal.

Yes, but that was back in 2010 with an agent in SZ. It took no longer than 10 days and 8,000 HKD at that time. Got no details of his office unfortunately. Wonder why you have to go that way to make an investment, though... Bear in mind that opening isn't a problem, shutting down is..!!! And it's very likely, you'll have to pay an accountant to deal with the IR forms every year, even if you have no income.Great advantage: don't have to pay for a physical address rental fee, your accountant's office can well do.
