If you were to decide to import a certain dry food product from USA or Europe what would the process of trying to get your product placed in certain Chinese supermarkets like Suguo, Da run fa, etc. What about a Walmart in China? Also wondering if there is no Chinese on the packaging would they only place your product in foreign goods section of the supermarket? this, of course, would make a big difference. My friend says you can just buy out a store shelf for a monthly fee and they will place your product there for customers to purchase and call you when they are out of stock. Is it really that easy?
Has anybody had any sort of experience with such a venture? Excuse me for sounding so stupid but i'm quite new to this.

First, you would need special licenses to import food into China. (Good luck with this since China is notorious for not allowing foreign foodstuffs in the country.)
Then all the food would have to be approved by the Chinese version of the FDA. Again, very expensive, lengthy and often times futile.
All of your product would need to have Chinese labeling on it describing the contents, nutritional data, etc... Most people get around this with a simple sticker. Of course that sticker will normally cover over the English information making it more difficult for foreigners (if they are your market) to see what they are buying.
If a store rents you out a shelf to sell what ever you want to put on it, that is illegal. And it even stands a fair chance of being a scam of some sort if you do find a store willing to do it.
In short, it is next to impossible to sell foreign foodstuff in China unless you are some sort of mega-corp.
