Q: Anybody knows Shandong Agricultural University?

I have contact with this Uni through the Chinese placement agent and Chinese teacher there.

Their offer is 1-year Contract with 8000 Rmb per month for 15 -20 classes/week, free apartment and return ticket home refund at the completion of the Contract. As I understood, Uni will also pay 8000 Rmb split between winter and summer breaks.

I don't know anymore Contract details, because Uni is/was in hurry to get FT by March 21st, 2016, what I couldn't guarantee. That was the condition for the Contract show.

If anybody cares for the still open position, PM me!

P.S.

I'll file protest at United Nations General Assembly, if admin will harmonized my cat's honorable gesture!

its a high salary for a university, they must be desperate which is a good thing, 8000 not so good for jinan or qingdao, but any where else in shandong, not so bad. class load is high for a university, usually 14 to 16 classes.

icnif77:

I objected that too at initial interview, but they assured me, there's never more than 15 classes a week, but highest no. of the classes on Contract is displayed just in case.

I ask them about city Uni is located, but probably you're right! I just don't know the city and more details, because I couldn't promise my arrival there by March 21st.

I'll edit with city as soon as I get reply.

Are you an agent now icniff?

icnif77:

No, I am not an agent and my handle doesn't need to be mentioned at contact with Uni....! I got initial contact through the job advert on eChina Jobs site.

I guess, I should repeatedly post such threads to qualify as an 'agent'.

When I am looking for the new position in China, I always apply at several different offers in the same time, and I pretend to be serious with each one.

In China, there's always some fuk-up on the way, so if one doesn't want to exit and apply for new Z must act that way.

In West, we generally seriously negotiate with only one offer!

Scots, I am looking for FT again! 'part-time' position this time.

You've got good intuition....I could be an agent.

After I gave my resignation an hour ago, rep said: 'School doesn't want you quit!angel'

me: 'OK, buTT....I have new job....'

rep: 'do you know any FT, who could take your two classes on Thu & Fri?'

I am chasing foreigners on Campus for part-time job .....It's different world in China. Did I say that already.....?

bE CAREFUL!!! What if they assign you 14 hours? will you get the 8000? Go for it and get a copy of the contract.

icnif77:

I feel bad, because I was all over and they were all over me, too. But that was one of the two offers I was 'seriously' working on it. It was a bit strange, when Uni told me, they'll show Contract only if I can be at the School before March 21st. I couldn't do that!

On March 22nd, placement agent who connect me with them, changed his Skype call to: 'URGENT! Shandong Uni...' angel

Now, I picked the other offer in Guizhou, because of the area mostly. I also have an opp. of more working hours and higher pay.

So, point of this thread is to get somebody for Shandong ....

icnif77:

I'm having new Contract of Giuzhou School for edit, and one part is:

- If Party B should work less than whole month, pay will be made on daily basis, which amounts 1/30 of the month's salary.

I'm not sure, if that's good, but here I won't get paid for whole month, if schedule is only for the 1/2 month. 'add-it': that provision is very bad. There are only 20-22 working days in a month. I told them, they must edit this provision to '12k salary will be divided by no. of working days in month in question, to get fair pay-per-day price....' Sneaky mastards....

My present Contract state salary will be 9 x 8k & 5 x 3k......what means I must receive full pay doesn't matter what I do. If I am not on Campus, I probably get salary cut, but if I am here without schedule, I must receive full pay.

When I work 10th or 11th month (addition), I receive extra pay (not full salary) for that. Like schedule in semester starts on Sep 15th, I received full pay (8k). I returned to Campus on last week of Aug, and waited 3-weeks for  start of the work. That's where all my points here come from.

But it's strange, why would they hire a teacher now when half of the semester is already over?

Runner? Bad school? Possibly fired, but unlikely with only a couple of months to go.

icnif77:

They are looking for FT badly. Guizhou advert is posted with 'Non-native English teacher...'.

I guessed, they'll most likely bargain for pay 'cause I am Non, but they didn't. I got the highest salary part (8 -12k).

It's International school, and Contract will be dated after my arrival (in a week approx.) for 1-year. Rep told me, they'll just extend Contract/RP in the middle of Semester next year. Start doesn't matter, if offered Contract is for 1-year.

And Shandong Uni had some important event with FT required by March 21st.

dont let them extend contract into middle of semester, if you dont like them, your stuck with them unless another school has a runner who left in the middle of the semester, have the contract  end at the end of semester gives you flexibility to say "bye" "bye" and still find something else when everybody is leaving and coming in at the same time.

You can also pay attention to the School's Contract violations, and use that-unstuck yourself LOL- as cause for resignation at suitable time.

I generally never worry about beginning/end of the Contract.

You can always find new position anytime of the year, and I am talking about Public schools, only.

I rarely work at Training mills, which all disregard hiring at semester's beginning, i.e. anytime is OK.

Good call Icnif! NEVER move heaven and earth without a contract signed in your hand! That's the best way to get yourself ripped off!

icnif77:

I just wanted to discuss their offer! There was nothing else!

Offer I accepted is much better than Shandong's, but Uni wouldn't show me the paper, just talk!

However, when in China always sit on two chairs (at least) in the same time!

Another thing on 'show me the Contract' is: 'I can't resign till new School and I don't agree about new Contract'. Once, I get acceptable version of the Contract, I can resign. In other words, if I resign first, then I must accept any Contract offered by new RP sponsor, because if I don't sign the Contract, I must exit China.

I am in that position now with School in Guizhou. Rep asked me to resign and get Release letter first, then she'll show me the Contract. What a moot point.

Finally she gave-up and sent me a Contract offer for edit. Now, I am waiting for her reply on edited Contract. Still, I won't resign till I don't get rep.'s reply/suitable Contract.
