Q: Anybody seen on t.v. the true story of the American Diver named Diver?

Long story short he came to China to go on a treasure hunt. He had a hunch there would be treasure below the ocean. He did his research gathered a team of locals and set off and discovered millions worth of treasure.

He later auctioned most of the pieces off and that's how he made his fortune. After hearing about this the people in CHina banned foreigners from diving into their territorial waters and went down to see what they could find. Mr. Diver had cleaned the ship wiped it dry and took every last valuable treasure that was aboard. The pieces belonged to the emperor of old.

So what are your thoughts on this story? Should he have given the treasure back? Have you seen the story before?

It would depend on where in the ocean he found the treasure. Depending on where it was found, he may be entitled to the whole loot or nothing, according to salvage laws and maritime law.

Was the ship a military ship? That is important because military ships always remain sovereign territory of the nation they served.
