Q: Is anybody working for Victoria University (Australia) in China?
Particularly at Liaoning University (LU), Henan University (HU) or Shandong-Jianzhu University (SJU).
Just want to know what visa to work on for a 10 week contract, and actual working hours.

Do they hold classes in Burger King or local hostels? 
PS: If you are getting paid in Australia, a 'F' visa would be the most trouble free option (apart from the inconvenience of exit and re-entry every 30 days). I am sure you could do that quite legally as a contractor rather than Chinese based employee.

LOL. I didn't even think of that Victoria. With her it would be more like "getting laid" than "getting paid."
Can you actually do full time work on a F visa? I thought it would require a Z visa, and you would need to be employed by the Chinese university. Can you get a Z visa for 10 weeks? My problem is, I have two conflicting stories.

It depends on exactly who is paying you. If it is the Chinese University, then technically you should obtain a 'Z' visa and a RP covering the period of the contract. I believe another option still exists whereby you can come here as a "Visiting Lecturer" for a period not exceeding six months. The payment is then classed a bursary rather than salary. If you can arrange to be paid into an overseas based account, you can come over here as a visiting contractor but someone will have to supply the university with an invoice for payment.

It used to be acceptable on a 'F' visa. It might still be but I have to leave a bit of a disclaimer in my reply because of all the recent changes. It is possible that this option no longer exists. You could check out on the English page of China Entry-Exit Regulation website.

Then technically you would get an M visa now.
M visa to aliens who come to China for business or commercial activities.
