Thought about it, but just didn't have enough time to do what I would want to do out there on Palawan.  By all accounts, the trip from Puerto Princesa to El Nido is nothing short of long and arduous.  Also, it seems El Nido is on the more expensive side of places in the Phils.  But, should be awesome once you get there!  And if you're going all the way to El Nido, you might wanna see if you've got time to make it on up to Coron....supposed to be awesome!

We'll be on Boracay for a bit, then we'll go around (hopefully) some of the quieter parts of Panay.  Have fun, stay safe!

Coron is the best of the three. You miss going there you shouldn't even bother.

Honestly, I went last year and it is awesome.

There is another secret little locations that you should check out on the way between PP and El Nido called "Port Barton"... It was my second favorite after Coron. I didn't really like El Nido... PP was cool.

I'll be there for two weeks so yeah I will have time to do something else. I've got about a 3-4 day gap after which my gf will arrive and I was thinking of Coron as it sounds easier to get to than Port Barton. Any places you could recommend or things to do? I've heard both good and bad reviews of Coron, but I figure it might be worth a shot.

Robk:

In Coron, there are a few things that you should do but some may be similar to other places.

1) You should go island hopping for sure.

2) There is a large hill in the center of the town, go during the evening and you will have some amazing pictures at dusk. The hill has an awesome view of the town and coastline.

3) Buying local fresh seafood and then going to a nearby Chinese owned but FIlipino managed restaurant. They will fry up some amazing lobster/crab for cheap.

4) There are hot springs just outside the town. Very nice to relax... you may need to

5) Rent a dirt bike and get there yourself or just rent one to ride around. There are some awesome stuff around Coron like sunken ships and small villages with resorts.

Lots of things to do... and VERY beautiful... what bad things do you hear? I don't think I could say a bad thing about the place.

BrendanE:

I mostly heard that the town was boring and not very scenic, the pictures look nice though. One of the things I would feel bad about is not going wreck diving as there is no way I could be certified in time. Also, the option is go to Coron or stay in El Nido to get PADI open water certified. Otherwise I'll be limited to the 12 meter dives.

If u got a day in PP don't miss the Underground River and crocodile sanctuary (if u don't mind nightmares the rest of your life. Yes, Dinosaurs Live!)    I wanted to post pics here, but still don't know how.  Maybe cuz I'm on OSX?

BrendanE:

Checked out some pics, you think I could do it on the same day as the underground river?
