Q: Anyone else REALLY annoyed by all the firecrackers/fireworks?

It was okay at first... but almost a year later, it's really starting to piss me off. Almost every morning, I wake up and there's some numbskull blasting off firecrackers at 5 AM, then 12 PM, and then at night. They explode them every day, and there's not a day that goes by when I don't want to go up onto the roof and start hulking.

In-between that, they blast them off at almost all hours at random. I even had a pucking (thanks Crimo!) rocket go whizzing past my damn face. Pretty sure I would've been Undead Hulk if it hit me. Thankfully it smashed into a building and shattered some glass.

I also see kids dropping fireworks in trash cans with lots of people nearby, and running off. Hell, I took off running too. I'm not staying around to watch the pretty explosions adorn my face with lots of death.

Maybe I'm losing my patience and therefore getting too fed up with this place, and perhaps everything is pissing me off... but really, I can't stand the firecrackers. They explode them on the roof of our building every day. It especially sucks when I'm trying to sleep. It sucks.

So, anyone else get bothered by this?

It stopped here pretty much the day after Lantern Festival.

I did hear it once a couple of evenings ago, but it was at 9ish PM and at one of the designated places where (during CNY) it is allowed.

Hulk:

Lucky you. It's still going on here day in and day out, at a residential complex... it's been going on since before I got here.

I live right next to a store that sells quite a lot of fireworks. It's fully stocked... always. FML.

There is a pretty old temple in my primary school. And my family lived one block away from it for about 12 years. It's said there is some ghost manager living in the old temple, hence every person's death should be reported there to clear his name off the alive people's name list, at the night before the funeral.

There were so many nights around 9 or 10 pm that  firecrackers begin to explode, with the crying sound from the family and relatives parading toward the old broken temple. The tradition is still going on I think..

It's also a horrible noise that once a person passes away, the family is supposed to invite a professional small band (particularly for those cases), playing the traditional instruments outside of the dead person's door for 2 days, from 8am to 8pm. ..

And now it's a new trend that people like to launch fireworks instead of crackers after someone passes away.....

:

Interesting approach to the culture of noise. I enjoyed reading your post.Thanks.

That's your trial Hulk to become even patient than you use to be. I know what noise it means. It may turn you mad. Be patient and let it go as much as you can. It is possible to find silence in the middle of all this noise. I don't like it either.

Yes, I hate the fireworks, sometimes I open the window and scream in vain while they shoot off the fireworks at all hours of the day and night. It's like they wake up at 2 am and decide to light fireworks, it's more than annoying.

Hulk:

The 2 AM stuff I understand. 99% of the time, someone died. I still don't like the noise, but deal with it.

It also sucks leaving the window open... they blast it on the roof, and the smoke drifts into my apartment. I want to go up and start shanking people.

I've gotten so annoyed and frustrated at firecrackers that my nerves are just completely numb to it now. It took plenty of near-tear moments during the middle of the night and quite a few Sideshow bob moments to get me to this point. Now I'm quite the robot.

Only when people let off those huge streams of crackers at four in the morning to scare the evil spirits away from some hair salon that's just opening. If they want to scare them away they should invite them in for a haircut. And why 'four in the morning'? Is that when the evil spirits are sleeping and it's easiest to catch them off-guard? But at the moment i'm getting more fed-up with the opera singer who lives next door. She's very good and all that but there are only so many times you can hear Aida sung in one afternoon before you begin to get a little tired of it. I've heard that some of the greatest opera singers can break glass with their voice. Well maybe it's true because if she keeps it up i'm gonna throw a bloody brick through her window.
