Q: Is anyone else's VPN down
I use the one beginning with As... and it appears to be down It finally logged on after about 15 minutes but there is only one server now, and it's in China.
Panic is starting to set in !
I'm not using it, but there's VNP advertisement on almost all Western newspapers/websites since a week ago. As soon as website's tracker point your ISP/ you're reading it from China.
2 days ago great firewall restored access to my country favorite news source, which was blocked about 6 month. i was surprised, and till now still working, but not by all ISP. My both vpn are still working fine.
I'm having the same issue with the same provider. Changing server country doesn't help.
As***** worked on my phone this morning at 7am.
Just checked it on my laptop and it won't log-in. HTTP/1.1 502 bad gateway error.
Just tried on iphone again and it has connected. I didn't use the app...went into setting/VNP and turned it on there. Weid how it works on my phone but not the laptop.
My other VNP is working Strongly.
iWolf:
Mine "gracefully logged out" by itself....if it harmoniously logged out, I could understand it but gracefully? FFS ![]()
Nope... well, not true - my regular server port has given me issues, but my alternative is fine (slow, but accessible).
Chinese remodeled/upgraded their 'track-Internet-users-software'.
I think, they are able to track individual users by pointing/searching of websites behind the block in China.
If you can open Face or Reuters, it's visible on 'track software', and next they extinguish your VNP.
There was thread about it here few months ago. 'Cannon something' software, which shift through the all Internet traffic.
Shining_brow:
They can't do it too much.. the party needs to have their FB access!
Me and a seperate friend have this same problem. About an hour ago it stopped working.
Mine seems to be normal again too. I guess it was just the company doing maintenance or something.
I just got back from an extended holiday. I do notice that both of mine are having trouble maintaining connections.
Like they'll connect just fine, and work well for a while. Then the connection drops and I'll need to reconnect. Wasn't like that before I left.
Maybe they have a new method for sniffing out and disrupting VPN traffic
Today, I can open the VPN but when I do, the internet is stopping every time I try to connect with a website forcing the VPN to disconnect. After the VPN disconnects, the internet starts again.
I thought mine was ok but it's definitely not working the same as it was.
The servers I had been using barely work at all now and it's generally a lot slower. One website I was visiting every day only opens about half the time how. This F###n sucks.
Anybody use TheOnionRouter here in China?
icnif77:
I tried with TOR, but somehow it doesn't work. I think, Windows is required. Web link is posted on one of the 'Up-yours' threads here.
'Would you install TAILS.....' is the title of thread.
Now, I'm using PGP encryption for my emails, just because it's automatic login/embedded in HD. I can't explore PGP further, 'cause I lost very long, complicated log-in password, and nobody has record of it. PGP can't make 'new password' set-up. ....so I'll need to get new PGP with another email address.
I'm so protected, that it isn't convenient anymore. LOL
rasklnik:
Yeah, but I bet your emails are usless,i Understand security professionals being nuts about security, but what do you really say that is a matter of interest to theNSA?
icnif77:
None! Just make 'mastards' run for their money.
I was really exploring the available encryption software at the time.
There's one thing interesting even when being straight on the Internet: 'software can outline one's personality (and prob. many other things) just by following one's clicks/reads and posts'. shenme?.
If you want real protection today you should abandon Internet entirely and resort to 'pen&paper' and visiting 'libraries' again.
In old times, if somebody would say to you: 'I'm being followed...', you'd first think about his/her's mental condition. Today, you can be 'followed' just by having mobile brick in your pocket. No need for tailing in person anymore.
rasklnik:
Look I simply have nothing to hide. Drag me in front of a judge about me search history and he is going to get a middle finger...
icnif77:
Think, why US and others collect 'meta data'? The Internet track isn't set-up for preventing crime anymore or it doesn't matter, if you're same on Internet as in real life. Track/search is on something else.
