Q: Is anyone getting nervous about the visa law ammendments from July 1st onwards?

I haven't heard much about it but a friend did tell me that the new visa laws are worth paying attention to and may make it impossible for foreigners on F visas to stay here. It seems like they really only want foreign experts on Z visas or genuine tourists. The law seems to target those who can't get work visas for whatever reason but stay here by constantly renewing F or L visas. Has anyone else heard anything about these changes?

Yeah. The authorities are very happy to get experts over on Z visas, instead of the F and L visas which were used to get in and then renewed. I have even heard of cases where such visas are not renewed.

If you are planning on working legally in China, please get the Z visa or don't  think about coming in the first place. There are schools who will tell you that it is alright to come on a F or L visa because they cannot be held responsible in the end should the law catch up with you.

Hope this helps.

We do have experts coming to China and these people are known as Subject Teachers. The difference is in their pay and other benefits compared with yours.

haha, butthurted? Unfortunately for you, I am NOT an English teacher and in my world

an expert is a scientist, a researcher or someone who got credits in his own country before going abroad, but for sure not a subject teacher. But everyone got his own standards i guess...

nicholasba, I can only assume that you are either a Chinese national or unqualified foreign teacher working here on the wrong type of visa. I cannot think of any other reason for such an uninformed or ridiculous statement.

for those clowns who couldn't make it back home and are here to teach their bitch-tongue: I am neither an engrish teacher nor a chinese.

for those pathetic chinglish speaking tools who long ago, as soon as they were able to differentiate themselves from some mingong just 4 their ability to talk a foreign language: you overstimate "a little bit" your country, dont you?

Not too worried.  My current residence permit is good until October.  I wouldn't expect there to be much difference in renewing it this year versus the previous 2 years...

First time in my life I'm going to do an F visa, and this happens? FML

On the other hand, I'm supposed to get it for studying, not working, perhaps I won't have any problems?

My heart beat is very 'low': 78/117 (last week's Medical exam).

No, new Law doesn't make me nervous. I am in the process of extending/renewing my Residence permit, which expire by the end of the month.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
