Q: Anyone have advice for getting my faulty Samsung notebook fixed?
Have a graphics problem (vertical blue lines, then the screen goes white when I use any function that requires heavy graphics). Took it back to the place of pirchase and they insist I pay for the fix even though the devicecis 6 months old and it is a faulty machine. Next time I will order from US or HK where they give good service, but can anyone advise me on steps to take to get this one fixed by Samsung without me paying for it again (already spent 4500 kuai on the notebook, only to have it bugger up after 6 months of light use)?

If you have warranty, repair should be free. I'm not sure, why place of purchase demand money for repair. I bought I-pod in Dalian in 2012. When it got broken (3M later), I went back to the store, and I wanted new one.
They told me, I should go to any Apple store in China, and ask for replacement.
A month later, I was in HK Apple, and they exchange it without any Q.
Most likely, purchasing place isn't right place to get repair. You should try Samgung authorized service.

I'd contact Samsung directly instead of the repair guy who is ripping you off.
I left my computer at place of purchase yesterday. Came back this afternoon and the laptop was finished, screen replaced. They wanted 800 kuai and showed me a translated message saying that screen was damaged due to human error. A load of crock.
When I first entered the store, there were about 10 customers. 30 minutes later I was furious and yelling (the way I noticed Chinese people react after a tragedy), there were no customers and security was there but seemed to find the tirade I went on funny, and the would-be scammers (actually they had already scammed me, charging 4500 for a laptop I later found for 3500 retail online) told me to just leave and never come back.
I have finally won in China.

I don't think, they were entitled to 'charge for repair'! If they would be, they would keep you puter, till you don't caught '8 ebays'.
Try this HK Samsung for advice. You could ship it to HK for repair, I think.

It is fixed now, and I am writing this post on it instead of the smartphone. Not sure if this was actually shifty dealers or Samsung China, but from now on I will pay extra to get it shipped from HK or US. F-in' "service" here, shafty as hell.
