It's great! It is not the safest place in the world in some parts of the country, but they have nice beaches and the people are awesome. You've ever seen brazil play soccer before? Need I say more.....

chenhan:

All earthmen know Brazilians are good at playing soccer.

One of the companies I worked for sent me to train new employees on a new plant in Campinas.  Was there for 6 weeks, and at the end took a 2 weeks vacation prior to returning home.  Week days in Campinas, week ends in Rio or Sao Paulo, had a blast.

Found Brazilians to be a very happy bunch of people, great food and to me somewhat inexpensive.  A dinner with wine, dessert and coffee and brandy cost me $ 14 US dollars.  Their dark beer (chopi) is fabulous, had one jar every afternoon after work.

If you stay off the fabelas (poor people area), you should have no problems with your safety.  I did not, and would not mind at all returning again.

Do have very fond memories of my stay there, was treated like royalty by employees at the factory and by Brazilians in general.

I have also heard that  Brazilian lead a happy life though some of them may be not rich, also they are quite enthusiastic towards foreigners.I like the culture and lifestyle of Brazil quite a lot,so i plan to work there for one or two years,it's the best way for me to experience the lifestyle in person. It's nice to know that the living cost is not high there,as $14 US dollars is not even enough to have a decent dinner (with wine) in most cities in China.I plan to work there as an accountant, which is what i am doing now.The best choice would be sent there by a Chinese company,as i don't think a Brazilian company would take me on now that there are numerous natives who can do the same thing.I am studying Portuguese now,as well as practicing English and learning more about accounting. If everything goes smoothly,i would start to apply for a job in the next year by which i could be dispatched there. Thanks for your answer, have a nice weekend!

I went to Fortaleza for 8 weeks, and yes I agree with all the above, the people are very happy, the main language is Portuguees.  It is not a very safe place to live long term, but its beautiful for a visit or short term stay  The weather is glorious and the beaches are amazing and everything is really cheap,
