Q: Anyone know of any romantic weekend getaways from Beijing?

Obviously for Valentine's Day. I'm on a budget of max. 1000 rmb per person. If anyone knows of any resorts, spas, hotels, nature spots etc. worth taking your loved one for that price range, please let me know!

Here's a novel idea, rent a house in the outskirts...there's lots of them! For just a weekend (and the weather will still be too cold for long excursions outdoors) you can have the run of a whole house. Maybe you can find one with a fireplace (pure romanticism) and the peace and quiet means you'll be able to actually talk and enjoy yourselves.

Back in the old, old, old days, foreigners used to be able to rent small accommodations at Ba Da Qiu (the temple on the western outskirts of Beijing) but those days are long gone (certainly for the budget you have in mind).

Or, figure out the longest distance you can travel together in a soft sleeper and take a train ride. See what you've never seen, together!
