Q: Anyone know a good store in Shenzhen to buy "real" DVD's?

Something with a good selection of English movies with Chinese subtitles.
I have only found a few with crappy selections.
Even a store with a good selection of fakes will do fine.

I have never seen any place in China selling real DVD's.  I had thought that I had bought some in a walmart once, but they turned out to be even worse copies than the ones I can buy for 5RMB on the street corner.

I actually bought some the other day at a big "book" store here. They were real, in normal cases like home, and were about 30 rmb each. They worked great. Problem is the selection was the pits.

Xpat.John:

Best to try Amazon.cn. The problem is that most real western movies are either banned or heavily edited here. So if you are lucky enough to find real DVD's, the selection is likely to be slim.

There is a very limiting censor law in China that limits the number of western movies that can be released for show in the theater and for sale in the DVD shops. You will not find any more then 10 or 15 titles at any one given time in any of the shops that sell reral DVD's.
I am guessing this is the biggest reason that the illegal ones are so much in demand.  Mix city has a small shop on the main floor, that would be the Starbicks floor that has some good ones but again very limited.

A:You can still skin into China as a non-English native teacher by holding English Teaching license in your home country.2nd: Your BA degree should be completed in a native English country. Once, you fulfilled these 'parameters', you qualify for an English teaching job in China as a non-native English sneaker with Z - Entry/Working visa with Working and Residence permit later on. See the last 'Answers Highlight' ---> there is a web link posted about 'requirements for teaching English language in China as a non-English native passport holder'. https://www.gooverseas.com/blog/guide-teaching-english-china#paragraph-item-63614-target

*English proficiency: Passport from one of seven "native speaker" countries (US, UK, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, and South Africa). If you aren’t a native speaker, you’ll need to be a certified teacher in your home country with proof of your English proficiency (e.g. IELTS or TOEFL). I'd say, Chinese will choose and look especially for a native English speaker at teaching of English Literature job openings. Posted job adverts for English Literature teaching are most likely from International Schools in China. Good luck! -- icnif77
