Q: Anyone know what happened with the foreigner street protest in Guangzhou?
Heard lots of foreigners gathered on a Guangzhou street and stopped traffic, in protest of a foreigner who got killed yesterday. Anyone know what happened exactly?
Chinese moped driver asked the Nigerian man to pay RMB5, which the man claimed not to have. It’s not clear if the RMB5 was part of the originally-agreed fare, or an additional charge. Regardless, when the Nigerian man refused to pay, the Chinese moped driver notified his friends to help pressure the Nigerian man. At some point, the altercation escalated, and many believe he was eventually beaten to death.
They were nationals from Nigeria they went there to protest because that is where the incident took place. The cops came the crowd came there were passerbys and on lookers the type that stare at you on public transport because they have nothing better to do. There weren't many arrests however the cops did try to control the situation. It was just a big demonstration that did not go ballistic considering the number of protestors that showed up. You could probably have seen Crimo in the crowd as well since he is living in guangzhou and he is from Nigeria. He should know more about this then us. I didn't go there just read about it you're gonna have to seek inside info. that person is crimo or neilrafter but he left on holiday vacation.
