Q: Anyone quit smoking since coming to China?

I had not smoked for over a year until I came to China 4 years ago. I managed a month in China before I picked it up again.

Now I am on day 2 of no smoking and praying I don’t lose it on a random Chinese person. Anyone have a personal experience quitting here in China?

Didn't smoke before coming to China. But once became a heavy smoker which lasted for few months in China. Then picked up my running again. I literally torture myself like with every puff of cigarette, a km more run. Never touched again after those few months.

Though enjoyed hookah/Sisa with my girl on May day Holiday.

In my personal experience, if you ask yourself few question like  "Why do I smoke?" "What do I get from smoking?" "How the first question changes, if I don't smoke?"  and finally "If it is my mind then why can't I control it?", then it will be easy to quit smoking.

Best approach is to start running and you will start to understand and love your body. Then quitting cigarettes or alcohol is not a big deal.

That is my personal personal experience.

yep, you are right on this.

I do not smoke for year now, and I did 2 boxes per day sometimes. 1box was minimum. last week I stay in Holland, I got myself few grams of Haze, 1 pack of Van Nelle tobacco and rolling papers. I rolled only when I back to hotel after work, and only for that reason. Saturday morning arrived to airport, almost full pack and papers I gave to some beggar there, he was so happy and I do not feel the need for smoke. It is because during the year, I have suggested myself hard, that really no need for cigaretes and so on. and it works :)

I was a casual smoker when I first came to China, when I was drinking and sometimes I'd bum one of a friend in a social situation, Then picked it up when I got here 2 and a half years ago. Was up to a pack a day for a long time and now I'm slowly cutting down with the intention of stopping. Just started gymming as well which, as people mentioned, has helped wanting to quit. On about 3-5 cigs a day now. Will hopefully stop completely soon.

Although I always seem to find a reason to smoke. Stress etc.

Nope, but I started when I came here.  Breathing the air outside on certain days has been equated to smoking before, anyway.

Oh yeah, taken a few smokes in the bars too, now I just always decline if I'm offered though.
