Q: Anyone seen the new film The Wandering Earth?

I watched it over the spring festival holiday. Pretty solid acting, music, and use of plot devices. Also pretty good visuals and production value. The science in the movie was absurd, but it's a movie after all. Not bad for China's first big sci-fi film.

I haven't seen it yet,,,, but it caught my attention because some friends gushing on about it,,,, and lotsa folks yammering on about it on WeChat.  I'm not into modern-day movies, let alone sci-fi,,,,,,,    but if u could,,,, please explain a bit about why a person should viddy it....

ambivalentmace:

they have a special effects guy from America Nathan Rich, a China ass kisser that helped make the movie, suppose to be pretty good but the guy has really gone china lover to nth degree with china tatoos all over his body and mastering the language, lately he has been trolling serpentza and laowhy86 on youtube to get some credibility with the ccp. Once they dont need special effects guys anymore and learn everything he knows, his ass will be on the street. It is peculiar he escapes Scientology brainwashing and writes a book about it and then he gets brainwashed in China, perhaps Stockholm Syndrome.

hi2u:

First big sci-fi for China, pretty decent acting, script, and visuals, and people are talking about it. Decide for yourself if that's worth watching.
