Q: Anyone taken a boat to Japan?

So I just heard that you can take a boat to Japan? Anyone done this? How much did it cost? Where does it go from and to? And more importantly was it fun? Or is it really boring with no escape?

My friend did it, you can go from Shanghai to Osaka or Kobe, it's pretty cheap, i think...
