Q: anyone tried google dot [something else]?
dot com gets redirected to the HK server, and searches are completely useless, as well as slow. I don't have VPN at home or at work.
but I use the sites from my home countries all the time: .co.uk & .nl
They work well enough. Every now and then it gets completely blocked, but will work again after 5 minutes.
Anyone try elgoog out of frustration?

You may want to try ethical alternatives to Google such as https://duckduckgo.com

I use:

for 'search', and it works well! Readjust your 'search settings' on the top R side of the screen. Unmark 'safe search'! You won't get porn on your search, and everything works faster. When it turns slow, I use search at 'Yahoo with US address'. It is not 'Y!.cn.com', but 'US Yahoo'.

I might do just that, but not for googling. I recently got my PayPal fully functional again, but the staff warned me that I'd be blocked again if I log in from outside the Netherlands. I'm hoping VPN will prevent that.
