Hours of Operation and Holidays
Submission of application: Monday through Friday - 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Pickup of approved application: Monday through Friday - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
The office is closed on Saturdays, Sundays, Hong Kong public holidays and October 10, National Day of the Republic of China. In addition, office may be closed on regular working days without prior notice if Typhoon Signal No.8 is hoisted or Black Rainstorm Warning Signal is announced by the Hong Kong Observatory (http://www.weather.gov.hk/).
Processing time
‧ Length of regular processing time: Applications submitted before 13:00 can be picked up after 16:00 the next working day. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office may provide expeditious service upon request. Applicants are required to pay a surcharge for expediting the processing procedure to obtain a proper visa about in half of the time as needed if the application is approved.
‧ Length of expedited processing time :
1. Applications submitted before 11:00 can be processed expeditiously and picked up after 16:00 the same day.
2. Visa applications submitted after 11:00 can be obtained after 10:00 the next working day.

Single Entry Visitor Visa -- HKD400/ Multiple Entry Visitor Visa -- HKD800
Single Entry Resident Visa ----HKD530
Expedited processing handling fee: an additional 50% of the visa fee
Reciprocal handling fee: Visitor/ Resident Visa HKD1280 (for US passport holders only); Visitor/Resident Visa HKD2160 (for US passport holders with Investors Status only)
Submission
Visa application can be either submitted in person or by an agent. However, if by an agent, a photocopy of a valid identity card or passport of the agent is required. 【Applicants have to apply the visa outside Taiwan.】
Basic Documents required for the Visa application
(Applicants are required to provide sufficient documents. Application without sufficient supporting documents may result in denial of visa or a delayed processing of visa)
‧ The applicant's passport should be valid for no less than 6 months with blank pages.
‧ Visa application form should be duly completed and signed. All applicants must fill in the application form online(https://visawebapp.boca.gov.tw) and submit it. Then print the application form out and present it as well as the documents required. 【Please find the sample as attachment. After the application form is completed and submitted online, the applicant has to submit the printed form to the mission selected online within 30 days, otherwise it will be deleted automatically.】
‧ Photos: Two colour photos with plain white background (2”X 2”) taken within last 6 months.
‧ Hong Kong residents are required to provide an HKID copy. HKID copy is not required for non-Hong Kong residents.
‧ In addition to the basic required documents as listed from 1-4, all applicants are required to provide documents justifying the purpose of the planned visit.
Visitor Visa (intended stay in Taiwan for less than 6 months)
1. Business: a company letter certifying the applicant's current status and valid employment, the record of business registration, the record of business transaction or the record of company tax.
2. Tourism / Social visit: a proof of financial support (e.g. a bank account passbook, or a bank statement, or a proof of current employment.)
3. Visiting Relatives: a proof of relationship between the applicant and his/her relatives in Taiwan (e.g. birth certificate) and a photocopy of the relative's resident status in Taiwan (e.g. household registration, Alien Resident Certificate (ARC).)
4. Short-term Study of Chinese: an enrolment certificate of the schools accredited by ROC Ministry of Education, attendance record, a proof of sufficient funds to support the applicant’s tuition and living expenses during the period of the applicant’s stay in Taiwan.
5. Domestic Helper travelling with the Employer: According to the Labour Law of the Republic of China, all prospective foreign employees must obtain a work permit from the Labour Affairs Council before entering Taiwan .
6. Employment, performing a contract, exchange student & internship or training courses: A permit from the ROC Council of Labour Affairs, approval letter issued by government departments, Ministry of Economic Affairs, Department of Health.
Resident Visa (intended stay in Taiwan for more than 6 months)
( Applicants are required to prepare a full set of documents mentioned below in both original and duplicated copies ):
Employment, Investment, Family reunion, Studying, Exchange student & internship, Missionary work, Volunteering work etc.

Countries eligible for Visa-exempt entry
1. The nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, which permits a duration of stay up to 90 days:Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Canada, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Israel,Italy, Japan, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Monaco, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, U.K. , Vatican City State, Republic of Korea, Croatia and U.S.A.
2. The nationals of the following countries are eligible for the visa exemption program, which permits a duration of stay up to 30 days:Australia, Malaysia, Singapore
3. Passport holders of India, Thailand, Philippines, Viet Nam, Indonesia, who also possess a valid visa or permanent residence certificate issued by U.S.A., Canada, Japan, U.K., Schengen Convention countries, Australia or New Zealand. Travelers meeting the above qualifications and having never been employed in Taiwan as blue-collar workers, have to first register information concerning their documents and personal data into the “Advance Online Registration System for the Visitors of Nationals from Five Southeast Asian Countries to Taiwan”(https://nas.immigration.gov.tw/nase/). Upon completion, the printed confirmation is used to validate the traveler during the boarding and the immigration check. During the immigration check, travelers who can not show a valid visa or permanent resident visa issued by one of the aforementioned developed countries will not be admitted into the country.
Requirements:
1. A passport with validity of at least six months upon entry .
(1) Visa-exempt entry only applicable to visitors holding formal passports, not including those holding emergency, temporary, other informal passports or travel documents.
(2) Japanese Citizen is entitled to validity of passport at least three months, under same other requirements) (unless otherwise stipulated by treaty or agreement)
2. A confirmed return air/sea ticket or an air/sea ticket and a visa for the next destination, and a confirmed seat reservation for departure.
3. No criminal record or not prohibited by the local authorities.
◎The duration of stay starts from the next day of arrival and is not extendable. Travelers must depart by the end of the said 30/90 days. Visa-exempt entry cannot be converted to other types of visas.Note:
1. Pursuant to the Statute Governing Issuance of the R.O.C. Visas in Foreign Passports, the application fee once paid is not refundable.
2. The applicant has to declare the purpose of entry honestly. The purpose of Visa application must accord with the purpose of entry. Please provide the necessary documents as stated in this notice.
3. Please be advised that failure to provide the basic documents required as listed from 1-5 will lead to delay the processing or denial of visa. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office will inform the applicants in writing and require additional documents where it considers necessary within a designated period of time. Working days for processing are subject to change and the aforementioned working time will cease to apply. The Taipei Economic and Cultural Office reserves the right to withhold disclosure of the reason for disapproval of your visa application.
4. Applicants with nationality of mainland China are required to provide related documents showing that the applicant has resided in foreign countries for at least four years before submitting the applications.
