Q: Are all very beautiful Chinese girls just waiting to marry rich?
I've met several very beautiful girls here. They could be models if they wanted. But when I ask them if they have a job they say no. When I ask them if they're in school they say no. When I ask what they want to do with their lives they say they don't know. I ask what their interests are and they say shopping, eating and "cute boys". Are they just waiting for some idiot rich man to marry them?

Marriages based on financial security seldom last long. Unfortunately, a lot of women, not just in China, feel that security is their #1 priority and are willing to sacrifice finding Mr. Right to finding Mr. $$$
Maybe those you talk to are materialistic persons, and not sentimental at all. They will be more interested in the wrapping of the box than on the contents itself.
Sometime I do wonder why "sugar daddies" do marry those bimbos (for lack of a better word), they could have the same fun without the hazzle of marriage, divorce later and splitting assets, even with pre-nuptials.
Thank God not all Chinese Ladies do feel like you stated, some older Ladies (late 30 and 40's) still seek romance.
I'm not sure if they are all looking for some rich idiot. Its a little disconcerning that shopping is a "hobby" and when I've asked a handful of ladies what they do or what would they like to do with themselves, the response is usually nothing or I don't know. I think is a little sad.
I found the women almost innocent in some areas. They don't seem to have alot of interests. I think we judge this because we have the time to develop hobbies etc. Our society has been better off for some time. The Chinese society is financially an infant. They will grow and develop,,,someday,,,,maybe? Alright , they're shallow too.
There is a movie called <失恋33天>. It got unbelievable box office successful last month. Of course I didnt go to the movie theater to watch it..ah...but the CCTV6 got it broadcasting very soon the other night so I got a little glance coincidently...
In the movie there is a plot the 文艺 girl asks the rich guy why he wants to marry to her beautiful material gf. The guy had some answers I think it makes sense. I dont remember clearly whole words now, it's like " material girls are simple, so the marriage is simple, so it's easy to control as long as the husband has the money" .
I know bunch of rich guys got that kind of ideas, so I think there are bunch of girls are made for them. It's not a big deal.
When the guy got no money, the girl got old. What will happen then? lol....sometimes love are there too after years living together....it will be their luck though

That is actually very true if the man is into controlling and dominating the spouse. He know what she wants (money and things), and uses that as leverage for what he wants, which can vary, but basically boils down to sex and having a beautiful girl on his arm in public. When the girl gets older, or he gets tired of her, he will simply find a new one.
Real relationships are much more complex, where people actually deal with each other on a personal, or sometimes intimate level, however, that being said, even love relationships are based upon "what you do for me." Not that this is wrong, as a way of showing you care about someone is your willingness to do things for them. They, in turn, do the same. Giving is an expression of love. This is the balance sought after in most romantic situations.
This is not a Chinese phenomenon. All countries have beautiful women, and some of them will always take the easy way out and find a rich man to marry....this is as old as the Rolling Stones (ok maybe older).
The only difference in China is that most women do not have as many options as back west, so they depend on men for their well being far more.
Just like not all rich men are idiots (I am guessing they did not become rich that way).
Try a diffrent way of meeting people.
Maybe ask a friend to Introduce you to some people that meet your criteria
and meet some one that way.
Its the long way round but it can narrow the odds
