Q: Are banks open the rest of the week?
Last time i was in China I did not have to worry about this but my school said I will be paid at the end of
September and with fingers crossed I plan to head to the main Bank where I made my account to see if the money is there. Now I figured the banks would be closed? Today but what about the rest of the week? At least I would think their major branches would be open? Half day maybe? Also, as long as I have my account book (they never gave me/was asked to apply for a debit card) I should have no troubles... as in the police have my passport and ID from my school and is still in processing, so other than having shit tons of other id's from America I have no way of proving who I am.

I am not sure, when Banks are open during holidays. For every account I opened in China, I received ATM Debit card immediately, so funds on the account where available as soon as it get deposited.
I never had 'account book'. Banks will accept photocopy of your passport, rather than US ID.

Thanks, looks like it will be an interesting trip tomorrow and when I opened the account I asked the student who was helping me how do I get a debit card and all I got was an "I don't know use this".... if they are open I'll try to figure it out. Gotta brush up on my Chinese banking vocab

Bankers speak English. At least one in every Bank. I look for any info about new city at the Bank, first.
Show teller (US) ATM card, and ask them for it. Show them ATM machine outside, if they're 'no ming bai'. I got ATM in every Bank in China, 5' after I opened account.
At ICBC in Xinjiang, I had to pay 25 Rmb for ATM card in May. They offered me another one for 'online purchases' for 55 Rmb. That was the first time, I had to pay for ATM Card in China.

Your School is not well organized, if they sent you to the Bank with student, IMO.
I was at the Bank for the same matter in May, with School's accountant and Chinese student, who translated 'my wishes' . I am their 1st FT.

Yeah, They have been pretty good on most things but when it comes to certain things like the bank and my phone, they sent me with two graduate students who study english... which it was very good but they were always in a rush due to their classes, but anyway the bank was closed haha but I found this, in case anyone else needs it, they only list three areas but I hope all the banks will open on Oct. 4th

banks are open even the weekend, weekends accept deposits and transfers over the counter and i think no other services but just deposit/transfer. You can withdraw through the ATM.
if you have an account in a certain bank you can ask to activate phone notifications where you can receive messages when someone wired you some cash or withdraw (1K and above)
you need ID here when dealing with anything (per experience)
Banks are open seven days a week, usually from 08h00 - 17h00 or in some cases until 16h30. They remain open during the major holidays, too.
and the questions get stupider and stupider how do these people make it threw the day
