Almost every week, I see a new YT vid of foreign teachers - some new admitees and/or with new contracts -
If borders are still closed, how are they getting the visas to get into China?
They're not new visas. People with a current RP are still, in theory at least, able to leave and return, the same way a Chinese citizen would be able to. They need to show a negative covid test within (I think ) 72 hours of their departure flight and be fully vaxxed then go through the quarantine period. I know people who have done this.
I've also heard of people who haven't been able to return, maybe they couldn't get a quarantine hotel spot, maybe they couldn't arrange the covid test within the time frame - who knows.
Hotwater:
I disagree. They are new teachers. If you follow Reddit you'll see on the Chinavisa sub that work permits are being issued though with even more hoops to jump through.
new teachers are getting in
(I'll crawl back under my rock now - see you next year)
Stiggs:
Ok, I stand corrected then.
Being China maybe different provinces are doing different things but the schools I know are hurting, they can't get people in and a recruiter I know said online recently her company is having to pretty much write China off for now as far as recruiting goes.

OT: @Green-ish Stiggs ...
- MP cycles to hospital to give birth for second time
A cycling-advocate MP from New Zealand’s Green Party has used the eco-friendly means of transportation to get to a hospital to give birth. It was the second time the emission-conscious lawmaker has done so.

Do women have to wear a bra while pogo-ing ... ?
... I was always wondering
I had to Yahoo-gle what's pogo stick ...
Stiggs:
It's up to each individual woman to decide but it seems like it would probably be a good idea.
Of course, not all women are created equal...
icnif77:
Leave the Darwin alone ...
I mean, you should know 'cause often pogos there ...
I fancy ones without the need of the bra at pogo ...

Pubs with outdoor seating with a view of a busy intersection are hugely popular in NZ. The light changes to green, the commuters bounce off, the blokes with their sweaty palms order another beer and wait for the next change of the traffic lights.
icnif77:
You have a summer there, I forgot ...
We're freezing here at -7*C this am, some 2cm of snow, which will melt later ..., but everything is white ready for the Santa Claus arrival ...
Stiggs:
Christmas in winter, that must suck. I'll be doing BBQs in the sun and hopefully a bit of surfing over Christmas.
icnif77:
You know, your Christmas BBQ thingy is laughable on northern hemisphere.
Sometimes at mild winters, there's no snow in the valleys by December ... and people rebel ... with:
"I am very sad this year 'cause no white Christmas .."
You would have Qs here ...
"Do you have an indoor BBQ in yer home? How do you manage a smoke ...? "
Stiggs:
Yep, I've lived in the north and had white Christmasses before, but there's no chance of that in NZ.
Indoor BBQ? Hell no. BBQs are for the back yard, beaches, camping etc. Go to the beach on Christmas day and there will be lots of families there doing Xmas at the beach.
Aside from that you'd kill yourself - a BBQ releases CO2 and so cooking inside is dangerous.
icnif77:
Yeah, I understand all BBQ thingy. The problem here would be with 'BBQ for Christmas ..'.
People here usually don't enjoy BBQ outdoors in a snow and cold ... except-o Swedish ... They go for a swim in freezing ...
When I was in USA, I resided at two places on East coast, North until the end of September and then move to Florida until the end of May .. and again ... I had summer year around.
I often miss that after I left USA especially in cold, winter weather. At your 'Christmas BBQ' yesterday, I was thinking about moving to NZ while here is a winter.
