Q: Are bumper stickers allowed in China?

I don't remember seeing any. If they are allowed, I'm surprised people don't use them. Around here you see the oval decals with letter codes for European countries. People put them on their cars to show off where they've traveled internationally. There are also decals with the airport codes for expensive summer destinations like  MV (Martha's Vineyard) or  ACK (Nantucket.)

Then there are the decals for which university driver attended, which "elite" lacrosse league his kid belongs to and so on. There are even 26.2 decals to advertise the fact the driver ran a marathon.

With FACE being so important in China, it's surprising the TuhaoMobiles aren't covered in stickers: Gucci, Prada. LV, Apple,

I <3 Paris, Johnny Walker, DE, SE, GB, Dom,Perignon, Harvard, ¥£€¥$$$$$£¥€€ blah blah blah.

you could have discovered an unexploited niche market: bumper stickers for Tuhao's - stick a few fake diamonds on them and sell for obscene prices.

Cash in on it now before all the copy-cats jump on this band-wagon wink

The Confederate battle flag should be ok.

Go on... put it on.... the Republicans heads will explode when they discover it is banned in the States but not in Commie China Smile

ScotsAlan:

Note.. I used the word "banned" for impact effect. Of course it's not banned in the US. Nor will it ever be. But sometimes... "frowned upon" is more effective than banned. The Tibet flag being a good example. That is banned here. And because its banned, people dont recognise it. They dont know what it is. But to frown upon a legal flag is much more powerfull than to ban it. Ban is kneee jerk, frown upon is the power of education. edit.. spelling

I saw stickers on car. Often, a styled, humanized poop or a kid peeing. No why...

ScotsAlan:

They should have a display on the windscreen to say dont drive over kids in a market. That video from a GZ market a few years ago still haunts me. Bump... whats that? oh carry on. How many cars drove over? Massive outcry... Government... what to do? Yup...Government gave an award to the cleaner who picked her up... the local government sacked her. That story is always in my mind. No justice for the dead toddler. The drivers... scott free.. the aunties in charge of the toddler... not my fault... Sorry... went on a tangent.

ScotsAlan:

Sorry for the tangent. It sort of struck me again last night as I walked to the corner shop to buy water and ciggies. Daddy was sitting on the kerb engrossed with his phone, child was playing on sidewalk and gutter... estimated age 2 years old. Behind them was 30 meters of safe pavement. Busy road. Struck me big. My baby. What if uncle does the same with my baby? Makes me think twice about being here. Honestly, I want to be here, but when I see the stupiity my baby might be subjected to... makes me think twice... just get her that passport Scots.. and lets fuck off out of here.... Stupidity beyond belief. I can deal with it. Will baby survive it?

You made the right choice Dr M.. you did not go home as such... you took your family to a different home.

What I mean is... your home changed becuase you went back. To go back changes it. Some need to go back... some need to stay. We need to change both sides...some stay to change here.. some go back to change there... but we all basically have to change? Fuck me... wish I had stayed at home and never travelled :-)

Ho, well... My wife complains of cost of life being higher, taxes (but was very quick to ask if we could public subsidies while having free French class from the gov., lol), people not working on Sunday (the nerves of those people having a rest at the same time as you !!!), lots of flies (we live 1mn from a slow river) and us not earning enough to live like fancy bourgeois (yes, she fancy herself as a bourgeoise now). In the other end, she speaks of buying a home, and said that going back to China in August was a bummer, we would miss Summer festivals. So for all the ranting, she want to stay, but face and all that... And yeah, for our future kids, our health and my sanity.

Sanity. Yes. I remember that. I seem to have lost it somewhere.

and it completely broke the mother.

She got run over by two cars, one of them did some jail time, if I remember correctly.

Not that we should really continue this line of thinking... but if that's how little regard the parents show the kids...

I'd NEVER have kids in China - nor keep them here. (not that I'll ever have any). But, there's no way I'd risk such a thing. Not for all the love and money in the world! Not when I KNOW there are so many better, safer, cleaner, places and people in the world. I'd be thinking (if I was anything like you guys- and Im not) - "I love my family - but I love my child's life much much more!"

I see many, many stickers all over cars in China. Race tracks they've never been to, "baby in car", that white WeChat bunny thing, quotes which I'm sure are hilarious in Chinese etc, etc. Fake uni stickers could be a winner yeah,

expatlife26:

yeah I see the racetrack thing a lot too.

If you haven't seen a take back the diaoyu's sticker, then you haven't been in China a day.
