I'm asking this because I respect my parents, I really do. Maybe I don't show that enough to them. When I was younger, there were things I disagreed with, or didn't do what they asked (I'm kind of lazy). But I don't yell at my parents (maybe that's because I'm a cry baby, I hate getting angry) and I don't do anything just to spite them. Anywho, are Chinese kids really more respectful than Western? Or is it because they are expected to be obedient as part of their filial piety? Or is it just a stereotype?
Judging from what I've seen on quite a few occasions, they seem to respect the traditions more than the parents themselves.
Much like you, I've always been respectful towards my parents, so so far, I've been more shocked than impressed.
