Q: Are Chinese couples starting to use marriage registries for gifts?

Or is it still all 100% hongbao culture here? It would be interesting to know if this is starting to become a trend among younger couples though.

I had to look up what wedding registry was / is.

But, to answer the question, I sincerely hope not! Call me old fashioned but asking for a particular wedding gift, let alone asking that you buy it from a particular company I find deeply offensive, it's no more than begging and it removes all the individuality from the choosing of a gift.

I think the Chinese tradition of hongbao to be much easier and tbh much more functional.

Though for many things I too am old fashioned. However,. Hongbao and Wedding registries for me!

Takes care of the pain in the Uranus of having to seek something that they may nor not like, wrapping the darn thing, carrying the thing to x or w place....

This makes things MUCH easier! and eitehr way, it is something welcome and wanted!
