Q: Are Chinese people really this psychotic? Have you had a worse China day than this?

Yeah, Daddy Hulk's back... sorry about that.

Okay... we almost lost our baby tonight. The mother in law went absolutely berserk. We announced the pregnancy, and she was fuming mad. She was so angry that she refused to let my wife leave the house. She guarded the outside of the door with a very sharp polearm, and said if we tried to leave, she would kill us and the baby.

Today, I was supposed to buy her a new apartment out of the goodness of my heart. I simply asked her to pay 300 RMB of rent for the 3 bedroom apartment (I'm on a budget), the same she pays now for an extremely unclean, rusty pigsty. However, I also told her I'd pay for the rest of the rent, the food, the electricity, water, and all other living expenses. She's desperate to move out of there too.

The very idea that I had the nerve to ask her to pay a little bit, but still save hundreds of RMB each month, sent her into a boiling rage. She freaked on us. She screamed at my wife's stomach at the top of her lungs for 10+ minutes straight, shouting tons of curses at our baby.

I called the police and explained the situation, but they took 4 hours to come. Meanwhile, there was no electricity in her mother's house, and we couldn't get out. I came down with pretty bad hypothermia due to lack of heat and proper clothing, so I almost tapped out.

When her mother was distracted, I took the hukou, the high school diploma of my wife, and her passport. I hid them so nobody could find them. Finally, we took off and, her brother, who happens to be a poor excuse for a human being, was demanding a divorce/abortion.

Before we could get out the door, he grabbed my wife and threatened her. I told him I will call the police, and her mother came and dragged her inside the house with HUGE scissors in her hands, while my wife was kicking and screaming, crying at the top of her lungs and so afraid. She refused to let her go.

Next thing I know, her brother hits me. I grabbed him and put him in a neckbreaker headlock, and it took all it had to keep from breaking his stupid neck. Instead, I mashed his face in, and the mother, who, again, had a giant pair of scissors in her hand, started beating us both (she tried to hit my wife, but was 100% unsuccessful). She got a really hard metal pipe and started beating us, and her dad joined in too.

I tripped on the stairs, fell down and everyone jumped me. They were kicking my head, beating me with a metal pipe, and kicking my body. Not one to take it lying down, I went full hulktard.

I don't normally hit women, but truth be told, I beat her mother bad. I flung them all around like ragrolls, sent them flying, broke glasses, broke faces, etc. Meanwhile, they're trying to hit us, but my wife gets in the way... I try to get her out of the way since they're trying to hurt her (somehow, I blocked all attacks directed at my pregnant wife... THANK GOD).  All she wants to do is go with me, but they won't let her. And they tried to destroy her passport.

Finally, I get the neighbors to call the police since her brother stole my phone, her purse and my suitcase. The neighbors all came runing, and I was sure that I was ready for a stereotypical beatdown. I was just praying my wife and our baby would  be okay... didn't care much about what happened to me.

To my surprise, all the neighbors took OUR side. The cops took OUR side. Her parents tried to bribe the police, but the police didn't accept them. They flat out refused all of the bribes, and let us go. They were just demanding her passport, but I just prayed they would just let us go... so I told the police that she's my wife, and it's her passport. They quickly agreed.

No wonder her brother has absolutely no luck with women. They don't even waste their time with him... he abuses women and treats them like dirt. Take heed, you young Chinese guys who are still influenced by your parents: you'll be alone if you do that.

We left. Her entire family tried to force her to have an abortion while she was screaming and crying. Now her whole family is on the hunt for us so they can punish her, and we're in hiding. The U.S. embassy has been absolutely awesome in helping us. If you ever get into a dangerous situation, please don't hesitate to contact your nearest embassy's emergency hotline. THEY CAN HELP!!!

Despite all the usual "Chinese = psychos without conscience" stereotypes, the neighbors and police came to our aid and condemned her family for what they did.

TLDR: The police took our side in a fight, and bystanders also took our side. We almost lost our baby due to a crazy-ass rural family who has been trying to force her to have an abortion. Now we're on the run from her family, who are all trying to find and punish her, and our baby.

This lesson has taught me that there are still some very good Chinese people out there who will stand up for what's right, even if there seems to be so many bad people everywhere. The police even said they hope we could be together forever. How nice is that? They even offered us a free ride back to Changsha, but we took the bus instead.

We're going home very soon.

I can understand why you need to vent such a story. I guess right now there is not much warm feelings towards your in-laws. Take very good care of your wife, she will need it. If it is this bad, then she may never go back to her family, although I could also imagine that would be difficult for her.

If during all this, your wife has been very cold, you might want to take her to a hospital for a quick check up. Some rest will be best for her and the baby.

My God!  Worst  Bad  China Day Ever!!!!!!!!   I'm so glad to hear you made it out.  As long as you made it to Changsha, I do not think they can find you.   Take her safely home and I wish the best for you three.

Dang Pulk/Hogger, Hulk, Pogger? (I'm confused) I am sorry to hear this but happy that it ended up, well, not too badly or better than it could have been.

I know you're younger than I (fortunately for you!) but you know there are good people everywhere and now you have proof. Unfortunately this knowledge came at a price of frayed nerves and apparently some violence. But if you're as big as you say you are then you showed restraint in not seriously hurting anyone.

TL;DR I'm glad you and the lady made it out of there and can move on. Rock on.

And to think this fight all started over her brother's demand to let him "borrow" my expensive DSLR, and to give him an iPhone. Yeah, her brother is every worst stereotype about Chinese people all in one.

Well done big man, if that had been me I'd now be in jail for murder and my wife and baby would be without a father for a very long time. Well done, that type of restraint deserves all the praise it can get.

Now, get out of Dodge!

If you need to stay in China (for whatever reason) go to a tier one city where it will be near impossible for you to be found.

Just wait, in a few days you'll be receiving a hospital bill.  Doesn't matter if the cops took your side, you're financially responsible for their injuries. Enjoy.

Jeezuz, that's worthy of a mini series mate. Shame you live so far from me, but then again everyone does. You would be welcome to stay here and I'll be away for 3 weeks anyway.

Stay safe!

Holy shiiiiiiiit. Can that be for real?

Well, at the very least, say massive prayer of thanks that the bub's alright. Your wife sounds like a sensible girl, get her back to your home where you and your family can look after her.

Ooooh, one more thing. Agree or no, every longer-term member of this forum will know your views on hulk-hood and your views on abortion. If you had to listen to someone else demanding your own kid be aborted and nobody died, I'd call that remarkable self-restraint. Kudos.

So she is your WIFE...

if this is true, sorry to hear ur suffering.

I can't help but wondering why so many people on this site encounter such families in China (maybe less severe but bad). Was is because there are more information I should know? Was it because girls from abnormal families are more tough and strong as well as attractive? Was it because...I give up. Which part of China are you guys seeing!

Anyways, good luck in the future.

Dude, holy shit, you have the worst luck ever.

Every time I read your posts, it gets worse.

Well, here, I shall grant you the blessing of the almighty Spoon:

When life gets tough and you've nowhere to go,

When the sun is gone, and your arms up you throw,

When all goes to hell and you're feeling lost,

When there's no option but to leave at all costs,

When you feel threatened and dislike your being,

Remember these words, the holiest of blessings:

"Fuck this"

May your life get all smooth, and the best of luck in your future endeavors.

if your going to stay in china, have her apply at a psp station to change her chinese name , small fee involved , this will make it harder to track down and getting a new chinese id card number will help. if problems in countryside they may not have finances to search but dont leave a paper trail that is easy to follow.

good luck

I feel really sorry for your situation with your wife and your family in law. I will pray for you, although I do not know anything about you (since I'm completely new on this forum). I will pray for the safety for you and your wife (and baby).

wow think that story would be hard to top. Glad your wife is ok and the pregnancy goes ok.  Why were they so against your wife having a baby?  How were they when you got married?  And how did the embassy help?

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
