Q: Are Chinese women more feminine then western women?

Not in regards to appearance per say , but as a whole. Do they conform more of what it used to mean to be feminine in some places in the west. For example demure, kind, sweet, family oriented, as opposed to angry, standoffish, feminest, ect.

From my perspective, femininity has something to do with dignity and elegance. So in answer to your question: No.

Way too general of a question! And it's not like the west is one giant country either! American women look different to French women or Italian women or even Russian women. Plus, it depends what age they are. Stupid question!

You know the actual question was so stupid that I couldn't be bothered to read the extra description. Even if the poster wasn't referring to physical attributes, it's still a dumb question whose answers can only consist of complete generalisations.

Yes, definitely, if you mean feminine behaviour. They behave like hysterical peasants in arguments, they value money, physical appearance and other kinds of materialism over love, have no morals when it comes to lying right in front of your face. But they are easily gotten by foreigners, and those foreigners usually are unable to score back home, so every bitter foreign men here will down vote this reply to prove their lack of manhood, and start writing endless praises about those "ladies"

Hulk:

I'm coming here to downvote you because I couldn't get women back home, but somehow became a superstar Playboy in China, and because I need to prove my bitter lack of manhood. Chinese women are perfect, you're just jealous because they turned you down.

Yeah, generally speaking. My wife is the most feminine lady I've ever met.

But what Chinese woman isn't angry and standoffish? Like women everywhere, they're all f'n craz—— dirty foreigners is THE CRAZY ONE  *skull-cracking noise*

But seriously, if you treat a woman like a woman, she'll be a woman for you. Treat her like a bitch, and she'll bark at you.

The general perception of Chinese women seems to be  that they don't shave their armpits or legs, don't keep their pubic hair trimmed, fart and spit in public, cheat on husbands and/or boyfriends, are lesser educated than western women, and don't have individuality.

It is also difficult to get meaningful conversation, and the tantrums they throw tend to be less than attractive. I suppose some men would consider that feminine, but in a different way to what western women strive for in femininity.

not sure chinese women are better at anything than western women, they seem more innocent but thats sadly just less maturity and behaving like a teenager when they're an adult.

Family-oriented? If this means willing to accept an arranged marriage, yes, many Chinese women are.

I'm slender and look much younger than my age, Chinese men are chasing me everywhere. Plus I have some curves. Smile

Their families... There is a reason why I'm spreading some hatred here.

I'm sorry about my bigotry, I was triggered by "feminest" -feminist. I have nothing but respect for Chinese women who stand up for themselves. There is an another group of sweet-looking backstabbers though.

It's a cultural difference. My parents and culture at large would be a bit disappointed or annoyed if I acted helpless or childish. I am expected to be self sufficient, able to do what needs to be done. Finding a good balance between that and what men believe to be "feminine" is difficult. Clothing alone does not make a woman.

Let me take a guess. What you're really looking for is a girl who is a little dependent, but independent enough to do things on her own. She dresses nice, but doesn't act prissy. She's mature, but knows how to have fun. She's confident in herself, but not narcissistic. While all of this is possible, you have to understand that she will have flaws. It is hard work to be a lady!

First of all, why do you lump all Western women together? Strange. Typical oriental. Second of all, regarding your question there are exceptions of course. But, generally speaking NO! That goes for South Koreans as well!

I'm a chunky Russian woman. I find Chinese girls more attractive physically & in this respect they are more feminine. Would I like to be one of them? Never in a million years!

They are like fragile, spoilt dolls, they expect their men to do everything for them - support them & their families financially & make decisions for them.  They're  unable to think a situation through in a logical, pragmatic & straightforward manner.

I have been taught to be independent & think for myself. I respect my husband's opinion, it's very important to me, but major decisions in my life were made by me.

Many people find it unfeminine.

OK, got to answer, been watching this for days.

First of all what you consider 'feminine' is subjective, and we are talking about sweeping generalisations which I usually avoid but to me, yes, I do think they are more feminine. But then I fell in love with and married a Chinese lady, so my bias is obvious.

P.S. If you think 'Chinese' feminine means unthinking, uncaring, dependent, idiots you are as biased as I am only in a different direction, or you've met the wrong type of Chinese person. Most Chinese families I've come across it is the women who run the household finances, (even if it's often the male who earns them).

P.P.S. I am also aware as we are using wildly sweeping generalisations there are huge amounts of exceptions to these stereotypes both in the 'west' and in China.

Yes, the spitting, loud cell phone talking, holding the baby to poop on the sidewalk and blowing of the nose onto the ground are very feminine.

Entirelly insulting question.  No,  there are feminine and less feminine women in every culture, here too. Chinese women may sound feminine and soft at first when they try to speak English, and "catch a guy" but it is actually the fact that they struggle to speak correctly, just listen to them when they yell at each other and have conversations amongst themselves; does not sound too feminine to me. And stop everyone already this comparison between Chinese and western women, read up and inform yourselves a bit more on who these people are, how many of these "beautiful" women that have fairly western features have had surgery and dye their hair lighter to look more western and softer, how many had "the hight surgery" etc and what is their character like what do they really go after? We are in the richest part of China, people here can afford some tweaking, like most of the beauties on the dating sites had something done. So are they naturally more feminine? And what accounts for femininity, being stick skinny, struggling to speak another language and pretending to understand so that you don't lose your face? Again every culture has women who are naturally attractive, feminine and kind and the ones that are not, Chinese women are not better than the rest of the women in the world, they have different features and you can just attach yourself to one much easier than to women in the west if you are a white guy and have some cash, lets be real.

This question - one of the more odious in this week's series of trollings - has been pretty decently dealt with, but there is one point that's worth raising.

The OP tries to say that feminism is the opposite of femininity. Actually, although both blindingly obviously have their roots in the same word (from the latin femina, I'd assume), they have no correlation, positive or negative.

Feminism, at its roots, is the political belief that women and men should shoulder the same societal rights and burdens, and that people should not be judged according to their gender. Although there are many divergent schools of thought (and I was forced to study that shit ad nauseum at university), that's the core.

Femininity is the set of traits and behaviors historically associated with societally acceptable women; most notably gentleness, a nurturing nature and social propriety. Thus it's entirely possible to find women who are intense believers in social equality and are stereotypically feminine (a dear friend who has just finished her masters in women and children's development is the most caring and feminine woman I know as well as being the most tenacious supporter of gender equality I know), and it's also possible for women to be neither feminine nor feminist.

The end.

Can of worms opened.

I'm from the UK and there are many women that act like "lads". Downing beers, getting wasted, shouting abuse at the TV during a football game, etc. I do feel like Chinese women in general dress more feminine and are more old-fashioned which could be seen as more traditionally feminine.

On the other hand I see many girls that I have real trouble being able to tell them apart from a boy. These butch boyish looking Chinese girls. I never see that in the UK.

I think China is more old fashioned and in that sense we think of feminine women as housewives or secretaries where as in the west they are much more powerful.

So difficult to generalize.  Women are feminine - or not - wherever you go in the world.  More or less?  Sure.  In every society or country you have "more or less" feminine women.  China is no exception.  Compare your typical Chinese ayi or female street cleaner in China to Monica Belluci.  Which of the 3 is more feminine?

You can't generalize.  Chinese women, Italian women, American women, Venezuelans, Ethiopians, the Ukraine... Open your eyes.  Sheesh.  What a question.
