Q: Are divorce rates of Chinese-Foreign couples high?
I wonder if there are any statistics on this as it wouldn't surprise me if the divorce rate of Chinese-foreign couples are really high. Ive only been with my Chinese girlfriend for a short while and already she's starting to talk about marriage even though we don't even know if we're compatible over the long-term yet. My friend who's been going out with a Chinese lady for a couple of years is getting married this year, even though he is quite opposed to the institution of marriage and is only doing it to put a stop to her and her family's constant nagging and pressure. It just seems like many foreigners here get married because of pressure to do so. That can't end well.

It will be very hard to offer statistics on all foreign males who marry Chinese Ladies. But from the US only, it seems to be running around 20 % while marriages where both are Americans is close to 70 %. But I must warn you that this is a few years old now, not current in my opinion. And also in my opinion, does not include marriages performed outside USA.

Dude, the average divorce rate is like 40 per cent.
I don't know about divorce rates, but the rates for guys coming home with asian wives and the wife never even making it to his home is high. Couples together for years in China etc,, as soon as that plane lands she trying to cllimb out a washroom window someplace.

Though, if the woman claims abuse, then she is granted an automatic green card. And Chinese ladies (as well as every foreign bride) knows this because they are handed a handy little pamphlet the moment they set down in the US that spells it out.
This happened to a friend of mine who brought a lady back from China. 2 days after landing she called the police and charged him with abusing her (he didn't). He spent 4 days in jail and during that time she got her green card, filed for divorce and moved to another state. She financed this by selling or throwing away every last possession he had in his home while he was in jail.
They had been together in China for a year and a half. Of course, he is an idiot, but it is still a precautionary tale to people wanting to get married.

She literally slammed her face into a wall and told the police that he shoved her face into the wall. She only had a few scratches and a couple of bruises. But, by law, the police had to take my friend in because she showed injuries.
I only know the truth about what happened, because she told another Chinese lady what she did and that lady also happened to be a friend of mine and she told me. But since there was no real way to prove it, she got away with it.

I'm sure the woman has to stay with her husband for two years in Canada, But I did see a website once telling women how to handle the husband, claim abuse, then she's be off the hook for the 2 year requirement, It listed where to apply for government jobs, etc. Abuse, she just has to say so,

I had this case where one of my officers called me and asked if a man pushes his wife knocking her over, is that domestic violence? When I said yes, he brought the victim to the station.
I asked her how the incident occurred. She told me that she was arguing with her husband when she got mad and started to hit him. He grabbed her arms so she started to kick him. And then, he pushed her.
Astounded, I excused myself with her and asked the officer why did he arrest the husband. He told me, patiently like answering the question to a slow child "because he is the man." Both were then outraged when I refused to file charges and instead charged the wife with domestic abuse.
I suggest you leave the statistics alone and study the woman who is asking to marry you.

When I used the expression “Study the woman” , I was intended to remind the man to think if the woman’s realm of thought and stage of mind are compatible with his, or is she mature enough to understand what a marriage exactly means, otherwise ,it's NOT the time to talk about marriage yet.

not to start an argument, or a futile discussion, but the data I presented came from the US Census bureau and it was dated 2000-2005.

I did not said 70 %, but CLOSE TO 70%, and I also said it was not current in my opinion.
Unfortunately and surprising, I could not find a single data on average US divorce rate, they do all kinds of demographic subdivisions in presenting the data by age bracket, race, state where they live, if first, second or third marriage, etc.
So, I looked at data from California at 73 %, and many other States in the 60's and high 50's, and called it "close to 70 %. Another surprising information was that for first marriages, divorce rates were 43% in 2005, and for third marriages was 73 %. And for age brackets, the worse was 30 to 40, and 40 to 50.
But the information that topped all was their explanation as to why divorce rates are falling in USA. They claim that with each passing year, many couples just cohabit together without getting married, so when they drift apart are not included into the statistics. In fact, in just number of persons, today they exceed the number of the ones getting divorced.
So, in a way, the only lesson I learned here was that statistics sometimes do not paint a true picture of the situation involved.
BTW climbing out the window is just an exaggeration, but too many Chinese and other nationalities come to Canada and just disappear,students do this big time, stay in the country illegally. They later can apply and get status because they will have ties in Canada. this why it is so hard for Chinese to get a visitor visa, because many do stay illegally.
If you love her, then marry her. Like any relationship what you put into it is what you get.

i don't know but so far any of my friends who got married to a Chinese girl had already gotten divorce
except if he is super rich then the girl and her family would do whatever to keep the relationship going
I have a wonderful American colleague here in China who has been married and divorced five times already and he is currently on his way to his sixth marriage.
