Know this kid who landed a gig at an embassy in Beijing which surprised me because he's really not that bright or qualified. I'll admit he looks good in a suit though.

Yeah, they probably are. I met a guy that was from Canada a chinese canadian and to me he wasn't that bright either. I guess he was sort of a comedian, a funny guy. The experience I had with dealing with people at the embassy weren't that good. I thought I received some very poor service from my embassy. So it seems like any old ham can work there. Maybe it's the stuck up kind that likes to gloat about themselves all day who knows.
I heard the Chinese staffs working in foreign embassies in China are very rude and arrogant to their Chinese compatriots.
Really depends on what the job is. There's some low level jobs at embassies that aren't good jobs at all. However, there are also some really good jobs with some nice perks if you are lucky enough for there to be an opening and they choose you over the thousands of other people who apply.
I know a guy who use to be a security guard at the us embassy. It was a low paying entry level job just like most security guard jobs. Nothing special about it.

Kinda special I would think....
Try this:
"Hi, I am a security guard in Wal-mart...."
OR
"Hi, I am a security guard in the US Embassy in ...."
Of the two, I think the second one sounds more interesting even though they are essentially the same thing....
