Sorry to be frank, but I think your Chinese friend is exceptionally backwards. All the Chinese women who I have spoken to about this go for regular, annual check-ups. Perhaps educational level has something to do with those women who find it weird to get a gynecological checkup.

I am sorry, Lolitta2, but i do respectfully disagree with you.  Even if I dislike to generalize, because my sample is not large enough, I must say that in my experience, Chinese only go to see a doctor when really sick, and after thinking about it for a while.  Regular physical check ups are just not done in general, maybe by a few wealthy ones, but not by a lot.

I do get a physical every year, or as i need it, and my GF still thinks that i am wasting money if i am not sick.  Due to her diet, she has a severe case of anemia, she refuses to see a doctor even if tired and all the time out of energy and get up and go.  I managed to get her to have a blood test, she came two thirds below the minimum amount of red blood cells, yet she says she is OK and will not eat beef, or other iron supplemental food, not take pills and much less a B-12 shot.  And she is educate and has a college degree.

My wife had her 'regular' cervical smears (every 2 - 3 years in the UK) but that was it. But as far as I remember that was normal, regular gynaecological examinations outside the smear test are not a normal thing even in the UK.

However, since returning to China even they have stopped.

Disclaimer: I am a male so my knowledge of this is at best second-hand.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
