Q: Are internships in China for foreigners worth it?

I read a lot about all these internship programs that have cropped up here and there in China - unpaid for the most part but which promise to get your foot in the door of the Chinese market by showing you around the top companies of whatever sector you're in.

Are these internships worth it or just money traps? (their prices are high)

no they are not worth it like these teaching programs that charge you, if there is a demand for you to do a job for free then you could find someone willing to pay you usually much more than a local

I took a type of internship when I first came to China to teach. My airfare, meals and accomadation were all provided. Also I got an allowance which helped for other things. The contract was for 3 months so I was able to make a judgement about coming back to work here
I have been here now for over 3 1/2 years now and I love it
If you haven't taught students before maybe you can get something like I did.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
