Q: Are iPhone/iPad accessories cheaper to buy in China than elsewhere?
I know the actual phones and ipads themselves are more expensive here, but what about the 'made in China' accessories that go with them? Surely they must be cheaper here because they're manufactured here or are they more expensive because of the BS "prestige"?
While Apple's iPods and phones are indeed made in China, somehow they must be manufactured in some sort of special tax zone or area, since most are for export elsewhere. So, those earmarked for internal consumption are taxed as foreign goods entering the country, and this is why you can buy them, or accessories, cheaper in HKG than in the Mainland.
In my eyes, "prestige" has nothing to do with it, except for the fact that many newly rich do not mind showing off with wads of money in their hands when purchasing overpriced items at luxury shops.
It is a Big Myth...Hong Kong is the cheapest place for i phone in the world..for example..i phone 5, 16 GB is 5588 HK Dollar..you can compare it with price in China and you can conclude this matter
