Q: Are licensed agencies to be discouraged (have licenses withdrawn)

Today I was advised that the coming year/s will see the restriction of official agency employment of foreign teachers which are subsequently placed in public schools. In short, I was told that although schools prefer to use agencies the government are aiming at direct recruitment policies and a contractual arrangement with schools as a priority.

Has anyone heard anything about this? It will truly throw a spanner in the works if it is the case for every link in the chain.

It suggests to only trust a direct contract in a public school if you are looking for long term employment.

I would have prefered to deal directly with the school employing me, as with any country. when it comes to contract working.

Using agencies although might take the pain out of dealing with some aspects of life in China, you know that they are ****ing you over when it comes to salary.

On the 'con' side there is the bureacuracy aspect of China which is like jumping through so many hoops to turn a light switch on it fries the brain some times.

I would also prefer to negotiate with the school than going to the agency. It's more convenient.

That perspective sounds like a nice plan and preferable deal. All the sharks and scavengers that make the built in food chain have put a lot of food on the plate of the gullible yet parasites that these private agencies are. If that is true, I salute this initiative and I look forward to the fall of the many that predate on both sides: the students and teachers.

There will be some constraints for the teachers contracted by the schools but it will be healthier as they won't find themselves the merchants being dealt upon down this chain.

It  was amazing when I have found how much my employer get on my work. I felt hooked just as a pimp does with its victims.

After all it is based on the same logic from the day you are invited to sign a contract down to the day you want to leave and you cannot..because one still owes money to that pimp, not knowing the amount, not even knowing that it was the teacher being traded as hooker and prostitute, each one involved in this soul-trading, claiming its share with benefits. .

To me, agencies in China are built upon the same mentality of abuse that young girls and young women undergo, being held hostages at the market place of soul carnage and body consumption: they are groomed, promised the Promised Land, then they land in a flat, - just as we are being landed in hotel which one ends up paying it himself, then uncovered the truth that a debt must be paid followed by the resistance of the to be victim,  opposed with menaces, threats, mental and physical abuse in the case of the future bodies to be sold. In our cases, documents  are held without knowing why and how to secure your way out, secretly sent here and there to teach not knowing that you are paid a fraction out of what's being made on your daily work as a teacher.

Then, try to seek elsewhere: you are either to cover the debt which it never ends, for you do not know exactly how much has been bid on your head. One knows only that debt still must be paid. You are then promised with all documents to move elsewhere, except that you are told that the conditions are not favorable for that outcome when time comes to look forward, rather continue to work with them or end up homeless and illegal.

That thing, that a teacher becomes a commodity for this agencies, life, hopes, future, decision at the will of the agency, turns this industry into a sort of the prostitution of a different kind although it is about humans.

I am not only hoping that this industry be shattered but also that I look forward to hearing of the many who went to bankruptcy and poverty for they played with lives which, by nature of ideals the teaching mission uncovers is to imbue and inspire lives into other's minds. Yet foreign teachers are so easily despised because the system allows predators of the kind to deal in an industry based utmost on human ideals and the best of the hopes for the students.

Stiggs:

"It  eas amazing when I have found how much my emplyer get on my work. I felt hooked just as a pimp does with its victims."

If you're not happy with them why not just quit? There are schools out there desperate for teachers.

A: "... through ..."?  Only "through" comes to mind is "Shenzhen agent can connect you with an employer, who's authorized to hire waigouren ... and can sponsor Z visa." It's not like every 10th person you meet in Shenzhen's hood can sponsor work visa ...  The only way to change from student to labourer visa is just a regular way by: 1. Finding an employer, who'll apply for an Invitation letter; 2. Exit China and apply for Z visa in your home country's Chinese embassy; 3. Enter China in 30-days after Z visa was stamped into your travelling instrument ...As I am aware, you won't be able to switch to Working permit by remaining in China....,so make ready for a return to your home .... -- icnif77
