Q: Are non-gov't officials allowed to drive black Audi A6s?

Another dumb question alert!

So crossing the street, I was almost hit by a guy in a black Audi A6. This got me thinking, are all people driving this model government officials or married to them, or are these cars sold publicly?

If they are sold to everyone, how exactly do you distinguish a gov't car from a civilian one?

They are sold to anyone.

To tell if it is a Government car on the dashboard you should see some extra labels they have and will have a seal of the gov department.

You can also tell if it is a government car by the license plate.  If the first character is a "0" then it is a government car.  If the first character is red, then it is military.  If the last character is red, then it is police.

But anyone can buy an A6.  The reason why you see so many government officials in A6s is because the cost of that vehicle is, by law, the most expensive car a government official can own.  Anything more expensive is supposed to be "immoral" or some such nonsense.
