Q: Are pets wrapped up for winter walks giving you as much glee as they give me?
One of my favourite things about winter in China are the woolies for pets. Heading home from work I walk through a park and everyday get to enjoy an assortment of dogs dressed in better coats than me. I particularly like the handmade knitwear.....And though many of these dogs can't seem to run well for all the jacket padding that is shoved under their arm pits, they are super stylish.
I got myself more expensive jacket, too!![]()

I live in Guangzhou, where it's not particularly cold (never goes down to freezing anyway). I was quite amused the other week while stood outside a bar having a pint......a couple walk by with two poodles...they've both got coats on (the poodles that is!) AND ....get this.......little booties. Looked very sweet and made me and my mate grin at each other
No. I feel sorry for the dogs. Even flat-coated dogs can survive sub zero temperatures as long as they have a warm place to sleep.
Here the threshold for doggie sweaters to come on appears to be about 15C. I am quite sure a Golden Retriever gets no comfort from that. If anything, it prevents the UV rays from helping keeping the fur free of stuff there shouldn't be there.
I guess it is the same logic that also means a lot of dogs are overweight.
Anybody dressing a dog in a style that they themselves wouldn't wear deserves the death penalty. Simple life imprisonment will suffice for anybody dressing a dog in the first place.
