Q: Are recent tensions bringing out the wumaos?

Seems like the CCP is in overdrive, having their wumaos go everywhere to try and guide public opinion. Why are they so scared of this little forum? Why do they still think they can brainwash us? It's pathetic.

because to them, foreigners are a threat to security.  foreign thinking is different, therefore evil and wrong.  and they think they can manipulate us because they have very low opinions of us.

Call me happy-go-lucky, I really feel that the idea of a CCP-directed wumaos wave is as nuts as the paranoid theories of the latest tin-foil-hat. A bunch of guys (like, 20 actives ones) ranting in English, the kind of rants which are old and well-know, it does not menace anything. All that is said here is well known.

Occam razor, always pick the simplest explanation that explain most of your observables. Some people are paranoid, the conspiracy theorie nutjobs kind. And some of them feel the need to right the wrongs on the Interwebs. Seems we got one.

It's actually well documented, lol.

Yeah, I know that Wikipedia page, I read it, and I believe such things exists. But I think  that it would be more rational to unleash the wumaos where the majority of the national gullible minds are. It's not here. Optimal resource assignment :p

Plus, the Chinglish detector stayed on the green level.

I'm in agreement with you on the wumao thing, I simply don't buy it on this piss-little site, particularly as the only people i've known to be attacked on here over a lengthy period as wumaos have been this fella Matty, who i've never heard say anything in the least that suggested he was any such thing, and my (very English) self, a personal (very English) friend and a third party who I never met but who confirmed to me almost to the hundredth percent that he was also a Brit. Can't agree about conspiracy theorists though, I am one. But then so were Woodward and Bernstein.

Honestly, I don't deny their existence, especially on some mainstream Chinese news portals where their presence is so obvious and their litterature so incredibly absurd that no one takes them seriously.

I don't deny either their presence on foreign boards back in 2008, where they were just as easy to spot (some posts were found in English even on French speaking or Spanish speaking boards).

But I don't think I have ever seen one on this website. What would be the point.
