Q: Are roller coasters scary at Shijingshan Amusement Park?

My Chinese girlfriend just called me because she organized with friends an outing to Beijing Shijingshan amusement park. She said it will be fun, it will be with two nice girlfriend of her.

I'm a bit embarrassed because the two girls are really good friend with my Chinese girlfriend, and they like to chit chat a lot in Chinese while talking really fast so I can't understand. I won't sweat as much now, thanks to Ludovico advices - i'll get that baby talc as soon as i finish work! - but i'm a lot concerned about the roller costers there. You can mock me all you want, but I really have troubles with roller coasters.

My Chinese girlfriend talked to me about trying something called the Atomic Coaster, but just by the name of it, I don't feel like trying. But she really insisted. The problem is that when I'm really scared, I have some unwanted physical reactions, and I wouldn't want to embarrass myself in front of my Chinese girlfriend and her friends. Any halp on what i can do? Is it authoriez to hop on the coaster completely drunk (the three girls, not me)?

Roller coasters are supposed to be scary. The more so the better.

Milord,

Since the dissolution of the Soviet Union, all Chinese rollercoasters have been made out of disused soviet spy planes. This has led to some problems, mainly concerning safety and structural integrity. I think we all remember the 'Zhongshan Aquatropica Water Park' disaster of 2006! So for this reason, Chinese rollercoasters are more scary than their Western counterparts, because not only there is a thrill from the rush of adrenaline, but also a genuine fear of death each time you ride one. Beijing's Shijingshan is no exception.

Finally, I am glad to report some good news! Because of the speed at which rollercoasters operate, and their outdoor nature, your sweat will evaporate almost instantaneously! So you don't need to worry about sweating while on the rides, although if you get nervous in the queue, this may pose a (wet) problem.

More finally, if you are seriously worried about having an 'unwanted physical reaction' caused by fear, then check the link below. They deliver within 30 days globally. (But you can't try before you buy, and no money-back guarantee)

Hi Poutine!

Couldn't agree more with Ludo! and I certainly recommend the same link.
I can relate to your fear especially on the mechanical integrity of the rides.
Made in China philosophy got us foreigners messed up.

You may want to try some 'Merican relaxant to .. you know Vicodin, Xanax ... something to make you feel drowsy and forget whats really happening or at least nub you out to the situation Laughing out loud

Have a safe trip and good luck buddy!

Thank you for great response everyone! You are of great halp!

Ludovico, I checked the website you gave me, and it's very very interresting. I might be trying it, but... i was wondering. Would it make my bottom look big? With all the oily food I've been having, i couldn't halp but notice i gained some weight. Do you know if Chinese women, in general, love big butts? Or do you know of any place where I can learn to shake it up, in the worse case scenario? Thanks Ludovico, your halp is much appreciated!

A:Going to HK would be the best bet I reckon, especially if you were looking for a church wedding. Chinese weddings are pretty grim IMO - you go to a barren govt dept with souless officials and navigate red tape so some guy can give you a red stamp and a marriage book. You get expensive pictures taken of you both posing in places you'd never go to in everyday life that is somehow supposed to represent your wedding, then a while later it's off to a restaurant where a game show host kind of guy makes sure it's as tacky as possible while the guests eat as fast as they can so they can leave as soon as they finish eating and gave you money. Hell, I'd go to Thailand or the Philippines and get married in Paradise.   -- Stiggs
