Q: Are there any coin shops in Guangzhou?

I recently got into coin collecting and was wondering if there were any actual coin dealers in GZ. I looked around on Taobao but it's full of fakes and I don't want to get ripped off.

even shops would be full of fakes.

You might not be allowed buy genuine old coins if you are not Chinese.

you should check out which antiques foreigners are allowed to buy and export, as there is an age limit (as far as i am aware) of Chinese artifacts that can leave the country.

Q: Why did the numismatist become aroused when looking at three coins graded very fine?

 A: Because they were 35-25-35.

It can be a lot of fun to get to know the sidewalk trinket sellers in your city.  over the years I have found several interesting specimens.  The up-side is that these merchants are kinda 'gray area' so u can avoid any pesky 'rules'.  Yes, even China sometimes has rules.  The down-side is the same as always in China, just maybe more so. That is that oftentimes the merchandise may lack a certain authenticity.  But occasionally one can find some hidden treasures.

I have seen one at China Plaza.  As you enter the Mall using main entrace, as you pass the doors bear right around opening over basement area.  It is less than 50 meters your left as you walk around opening.  And in the basement there is Starbucks if want coffee.
