Q: Are there any religious temples in China?

I would like to know if there are any religious temples apart from Buddhism.

Why do you ask this question as though you are a curious foreigner?

You are Chinese.

If you're wondering why your nationality can so easily be deduced - It's because questions phrased as inanely as this one indicate that you have no personality. Try to talk about an issue that has depth, in a way that suggests you have an opinion. Or just fuck off. Actually, yes, that would be better.

Please let me explain the irony I see here...

Samsara... bitching about someone who mentions Buddhism and temples...

Just wait til Karma replies... :p

Haha!

Hopefully I won't be reborn as a lesser being. Like a Chinese person who pretends to be foreign online. I'd rather be a toad.

One criteria of religions is their answers to questions on life and death. For many a mainlanders the worship of money and face is even more serious than life and death. In that sense there are numerous 'religious temples' with pious believers spanning the entire china. Their faith easily exceeds the most pious believers in religions like Buddhism, Taoism, Christianity. All you need is look at what they are willing to do for money and face......

Are there any religious people in China?

Lord_hanson:

My mother-in-law has a weird little shrine in her attic. She also went to this strange island to pray to a Giant statue of some guy with a dragon beard who apparently created the world.

There are a few temples to the pagan sun god Allah in the city I live in.

Shining_brow:

You know you're now showing yourself to be {overly knowledgeable on the topic} - don't you??

The term 'pagan' refers to a specific set of beliefs which clearly does not include Islam, and their 'god' Allah is most definitely not a 'sun god'...

If you wish to use the term 'infidel', go for it... but still remember... for the most part, all religions are rather foolish (including, although not especially, Christianity (which is still right up there on the list of foolish beliefs!!))

@shining_brow You do realise that the word Allah was used by pagan Arabs long before Islam, right?

Shining_brow:

And various factions of Christians also wanted to have 'god' be a sun god... and believed in reincarnation... so, Christianity and 'god'/Jesus is also a pagan religion?

Same sort of logic as "we have a map"....

(OT, but related: I know a girl who is happy to be called/referred to as a 'witch' (real), but doesn't consider herself 'pagan'.... ah, people who decide that in their world, words only mean what they want them to mean :( )

Oh Christianity is terrible too. Maltanese christians use the word Allah but only because their language has Arabic influences.
