Anything that's a good cause and can potentially increase chances of getting your foot in the door of NGO work.

yes you can go to the poorer schools and teach english for free, or go teach migrant workers, go to a church and help setup a food kitchen

It amazes me there are Chinese here on the mainland who actually volunteer!?!? Who'da thunk it... OOPS! My mistake I went to the link provided by weena7 looks like it's 95% foreigners doing the good... What was I thinking! Chinese actually helping Chinese (on the mainland, Hong Kong has many GREAT organizations!)... I'm loosing it!
