Q: Are the Triad crime organizations really a threat in mainland China?
...and do they originate solely from Hong Kong?

They are extremely powerful, but they are essentially groups linked to Hong Kong triads.
triads are found in every country that has a chinese population and is more or less proportional to that population
I don't think so, they exploit their own... So it doesn't bother me...
The triads are a threat to the entire world because they are greedy, heartless pigs that will do anything for money. I should know, see my blog at http://triadgodfather.blogspot.com where I expose the business operations of the Triads in Macau. They are greedy pigs that scam the customers of the saunas they own. They are also pathetic cowards that try to act like normal citizens but secretly do evil things to fulfill their never-ending thirst for greed
They're all over the place in Mainland China. I've met many of them, and even interacted with them. I'd advise avoiding them.
- Do you ever visit hookers? Chances are, the triads are involved. You're funding organized crime when you visit hookers.
- Many training schools are ran by triads. This gives them a legitimate front. Not all triads are going to like the same things.
- Ever see people covered in tattoos all over their arms, chest and backs? Very, very few of them are posers. Not many people are willing to do that to themselves. Most of them are triads.
- Triads even dabble in black taxis. I'd personally avoid black taxis if I were you.
- Triads are also heavily involved with drug trafficking. Yunnan province is in the golden triangle... be wary of pissing off anyone shady in Yunnan. Even I wouldn't do it.
- They're involved in gun smuggling from southeast asian countries too.
Tread lightly. They are indeed a threat, and part of the only reason they're not often cracked down on is due to the bribes they pay to law enforcement.

Maybe also try to smuggle a Vietnamese bride or two.
I've never seen triad members or they'd ask me to join and be the token white monkey.
A lot of time , All this group has more ethics than the Politicians in My country. If you dont step on a toe, noone will harm you. Politicians in Europe harm everyone with no reason
