Q: Are Visa runs to HK or other cities outside China still doable?

I need a new Z Visa and really dont want to spend the money for a RT ticket to the USA just for this reason.  I have heard that the Govt. wants people to return to there country of origin for this now.  Does anyone know if its still possible for a HK run or any other city outside of mainland China?

You should be returning home, and your company should be paying, its their new costs of business in China with these new policies.  I have heard rumours of some schools having the means to let you do it in HK but from my end its just heresay.

i do know people that were able to do it in singapore...... but that was a while ago now and right when the policy first came up.

My advice to everyone, one of the most important parts of your contract should state that the employer pays ALL ASPECTS of visa costs.

Its worth a look to check your contract anyways and see whats up cuz your probably going to have to go back.

I know 99% chance to get a Z visa in HK " IF " you get a job in Shenzhen. 4 new teachers here just got one last month.

I got a Z visa back in the fall in Hong Kong.  You need to specifically tell your school/employer ahead of time that you wish to get your visa in Hong Kong as they have to request the government to put that on your invitation letter or else you will have to go back to your home country as HK will not accept an invitation letter not addressed to them.  Also you must do it the foreign experts way instead of applying for a work permit as if you just get the work permit there is no way for a HK run it seems.

awesome information. It's finally good to know what we have to do. Adding Hong Kong onto the invitation letter, genius. Thx, I'll pass that info around
