Q: Are you expected to give a tip to food delivery people?

I often order food from Sherpas and notice that the delivery people sometimes hover around the door for a few seconds after paying so now im paranoid that I'm expected to give a tip - even though this is China, the land of no tips. Did I miss the memo on food delivery tip etiquette?

No, nothing has changed. I don't believe you have to give tips here. SHHhh...don't teach about tips they may start to change the policy!!

Lolita, I have been coming to China for 15 years, and have lived here for the last 4+.  I have never tipped anyone, nor I intent to.  And please, do not do it either.  Do not spoil business owners even more (by allowing them to pay less salary), the price of food already includes delivery if necessary.

Completely agree. Although I am pretty sure a tip would never make it back to the business owner.

No, but in Australia, the "tips" concept doesn't really exist.
