Q: Are you getting Vaccinated???

Have you gotten vaccinated?

Personally, I am hoping not to get one. I am holding out in the hopes that once Asian countries open their borders, I can travel without one. With the near nonexistence of Covid in China, and a cure that is 99.7% effective, I see no need to take a risk on unproven, possibly ineffective vaccines.

Your thoughts?

China's batting 50% ?  I'll pass on the Vacc, even though the school offered it a couple of times here,,,,  and Director told me China staff Had to get it,, or get fired....  he was a bit pissed,,,  but he also knew/knows how the game is played...   He also made it sound like in a little while the school would stop 'asking' me to get it, and start 'telling' me to get it,,,  well,,,  cross that bridge when I get there...

Some of my colleagues are getting it.  Some elderlies from my neighborhood have done it.

I heard some places and companies are forcing people to take it then the media are saying no you shouldn't force it onto people, as this is by no means a mandate.

For me I'm not travelling nowhere this couple years so I won't be taking any vaccine.

https://edition.cnn.com/2021/01/17/asia/sinovac-vaccine-asia-efficacy-in...

But the rollouts come despite a growing number of questions over the effectiveness of the shot, which last week was revealed to have an efficacy rate of just 50.38% in late-stage trials in Brazil -- significantly lower than earlier results showed. That rate only barely crosses the 50% efficacy threshold as set by the World Health Organization, and far lower than the 78% previously announced to much fanfare in China earlier this month.

The apparent discrepancy has led to concern among some scientists, and shaken international confidence in Chinese-made vaccines.

"Since many countries are planning to order, or have already ordered Sinovac's vaccines, it might undermine people's willingness to take them, because people may question the usefulness of the vaccines," said Yanzhong Huang, a senior fellow for global health at the US based Council on Foreign Relations and expert on the Chinese health care system. "It could be a potential stumbling block.

      https://www.dw.com/en/coronavirus-how-effective-are-the-chinese-vaccines...

Paradoxically, China is actually procuring vaccines from BioNTech-Pfizer via the company Fosun Pharma. There are many indications that the Chinese government is using this media campaign to deflect criticism over the lack of transparency about its own vaccine manufacturers, possibly because its own development is not delivering the desired results.

Getting my second dose of Moderna in a couple weeks. This is perhaps the only benefit of being in the US now. Then I can go to one of the countries that allows vaccinated tourists. IMO, worth the wait.

@Nasboroguy: The Chinese government has already admitted that their two vaccines are not as effective as they initially said. No big surprise. Now they are talking about mixing Sinopharm/Sinovac with Astrazeneca. Covid may be (barely) contained in China, but as long as the billions of people there haven't received an effective vaccine, the entire country will be at risk of continuous outbreaks such as Thailand is dealing with now. If you have access to an effective vaccine (there are a few including Pfizer, Moderna, and even Sputnik V) then I would just get it. Sure, the effectiveness will wane after a year or two, but that's what booster shots are for. Although I don't understand why people wouldn't want to get a vaccine, I respect their decision not to get it. As for myself, I feel as if a tremendous burden has been lifted and I can soon walk into a bar for a pint (just not in the US, haha).

So they did not tell anybody that only 7 percent of cases worldwide are O negative patients, they also finally admitted in america that 78 percent of cases were obese patients. I have no health risks, O negative and slim again, so I will be passing on the vaccine. I have been around 17 cases of covid in a year and still walking the earth.

A:If you earned a Master's Degree in English Literature or a related subject, you can teach English legally in China even if you don't hold a passport from the usually accepted list of countries. The visa requirements clearly specifies this “loophole”.Nonetheless, I think this requirement is only for teaching English. If you are a licensed teacher of another discipline, such as Math or Physics, you don't need to be a native speaker, although most schools would rather hire a teacher from a country where English is the native language.Right now China’s borders are closed (does anyone have new information?), at least that’s what everyone is saying. China is probably only going to reopen the borders again once most of the population is vaccinated, and that might take a while. -- samvelasco87
