Q: Are you on a plan/contract with China mobile? Is it worthwhile?

I currently spend +- RMB 250 per month for calls/text messages. I registered for the "Blackberry Package", but that's only like RMB 108 per month, so the rest would be normal charges (local calls and text messages, i use call cards for international calls).

Is anyone on a plan and how many free minutes and text messages do you get per month?

I have been on a plan with China Mobile for almost 3-1/2 years, I have no complaints with their service.  I do not recall exactly, but I do get something like 350 minutes per month, and if any not used it rolls into next month (only accumulates for 3 months, and if not used, lost.  I also get an Internet connection, and cost 88 Rmb per month.
In fact, at contract end, I may lower the minutes, to right under 200, and cost will be 58 Rmb per month.

Why buy international credit card for calls abroad ?
China Mobile offers that service on your cell phone just as competitive, and no hidden fees or montly fees.  To access from cell phone, you dial 1259300 + 1 (if calling USA)+area code and phone number without spaces in between, and after connecting, you will hear the ringing and when you get an answer do talk all you want.

HappyExPat:

It is priced at less than 1 Rmb per minute, but it is hard for me to tell you the exact cost because it is deducted from the monthly quota of minutes I have on my contract with China Mobile. For a 30 minutes call to USA I will probably be deducted from 20 to 25 minutes of my available monthly minutes with them. It is not a separate charge per se.

I use 3G number, starting from 186. No service fees when you travel, you just pay local call fees.

Sorry for deviating from the topic of mobile. I want to know which is the best mobile service provider in China? What documents are required to submit if I want to purchase a new simcard.
