Q: Are you tired of being contacted by acquaintances who want to start a (stupid) business in China?
It happens to me quite often. Some people that I haven't met in years suddenly contact me with the most ridiculous ideas to get rich in China and they ask for help to set up the businesss.
It is even worse when I go back home, everyone tells me something like "Wow , you are in China. We have to set up some business, we can earn a lot of money" . Yeah sure, like nobody else has though of setting up a business in China before and your stupid idea is going to make us rich

Yeah no kidding! The business of no-return. Literally you put down something into that type of business and you want get any return from your investment. I bet they won't be your acquaintances after that! 
I find it worse with the Chinese here. Lots of them have this fab idea for becoming rich quickly but they don't like using their money (if they have any) or taking any risk. I just love their philosophy - you put up the money, you take all the risk but I want all the gain is usually how it works. 
I wouldn't say it happens often. Maybe a couple of times per year. It goes in both directions. People back home wanting to export something to the Chinese market, or import cheap crap, or Chinese wanting to import stuff from back home or they have stuff they want to me to find someone who wants back home.
There is actually also lots of other get rich quick scheme going around, like
- pyramid scheme - you just have to convince a couple of friends to also be in and you will make thousands without doing anything
- precious metals - no way can silver drop in price, it keeps rising
- real estate - just buy as much as you can
Few people I know want into the Chinese market. Mostly I get the "buy my interest in a partnership with a very reliable Chinese person" or they want to sell me their WOFE.
I can almost guaranty that if you give someone money to start a business you will never see them again.
i always tell them that if schools and governments dont pay me on time, why should i trust the people educated by the schools and government to pay me on time or do a business.
they usually drop the conversation.
No, but I get alot of Chinese wanting to be partners with me so they can use my big nose, white skin and native tongue as a marketing tool...
