i asked it by the way becoz i'm close to marrying a local but this incident has given me second thoughts. the last thing i want to do is bring a soulless ticking time bomb into my faMILY. someone that will let our 2 year old daughter walk the streets by herself , because culturally she has been trained to believe that daughters are of less importance.
the last thing i want is to bring another careless driver into the states but someone who would drive over the victim again and again to ensure that the victim is dead because , she was culturally trained to believe that "lower class" people are of no importance. or another potential hit and run driver who will drive off just because "saving face" is more important than saving a life.
i feel sorry for you kchur, but i do pray that you have a good lady, who would not do any of those things

if you have a brain , then you know it has nothing to do with race it has to do with environment and growing up here will make you behave like everyone else. my question was not gender specific because i think the "males" in this population are the worse. of the 18 that walked past how many were able bodied men? how many were women. but the thing that worries me are the responses from my closest friends here (all chinese) they all will say it is sad but yet they make the same excuse to cover for the behavior "something bad will happen if you help"
