Q: Attractions/performances that are so bad, they're actually kind of amazing?
I was at this "magic" show a while back for a work thing. It was out in the boonies in this small rickety theater. The magician came out with those metal rings and went through the whole song and dance of "they're connected together; wait what, now they aren't!". I was with a few other foreigners and we all applauded politely, anticipating the next trick....
...but there was no next trick. The magician did the same ring routine two more times, then the show was over. When the lights came up, we were all like, "wow, did that just happen?" Thank god we didn't have to pay for it.
What's the worst thing you've seen or done, which, upon retrospect was actually kind of amazing?
Underground progressive/experimental rock.
The guys basically have no idea what they are doing with those weird things that make sounds when you touch them. "Am I holding it right?" "What happens if I scratch it?" "What the hell is a 'music' anyway?"
It takes some real courage to go up on stage in front of a crowd (of 10 people) like that. But they still suck.
The blatant, repeated plagiarism of certain students; and their ability to stick to their story with a straight face. I have Googled and shown to the face of one group of four exactly where on Baidu they found and copied a full essay from. They claimed that they wrote it, word for word, originally. Strange, considering as someone else had the exact same 5 page dialogue 4 years ago.
I took my kids to see a stage performance of Wizard of Oz in Chinese. 2 hours of pure misery as every single song was sung to the tune of "Happy Birthday". My (then) 3 year-old's comments, "Daddy, that was boring."
